Good price! still waiting for a Freesat+ (with recording) box to come down to a similar bargain price.

Looking at the list of "150 TV and radio channels", http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels?page_b229=1 it just seems to be all the stuff you get on digital terrestrial, plus a load of filler that nobody ever watches.

...true, but it's a good option for getting the free HD channels for those who don't get a good Freeview HD signal...
#4
You can also add extra channels but not tried that yet.
Can't get freeview HD till 24th August here so it is the cheapest option to make the most of our TV really.

On that day both my Sky boxes go in the bin.

Had one of these a while back, same model number but without the A.

Gave a lot of trouble, as did a replacement, within the first year and after 14 months will not even switch on.

Used to be a good company, but now??

Me too!

This is a good deal - bbc, ITV and 4 in HD is good enough.

Does this do iPlayer via ethernet (like all the freesat boxes were supposed to but it ended up being some of the HD ones)?
#9
it does have iPlayer on it. Yet to use that also mind. My mother is hogging it so can't play with it yet.

Seconded, Freeview signal is often flakey, Freesat rarely is, in fact I can't remember having a problem in 2 years. Whereas if I watch via Freeview tonight I can almost guarantee some popping and squelching and pixelling. Even in SD.

You don't get Channel 4 in HD on Freesat. They took the Murdoch shilling to give Sky exclusivity via satellite.

do you have to have dish installed with this ??

Think that changed this month, maybe a 12 month exclusity agreement that has now expired?

If you don't have one already, I'd recommend Onkyo, they make the best dishes.

Typical. I paid £89 for a Sagem HD only a few weeks ago.

Heat....!

This might be a stupid question but do you need to have an ethernet cable plugged into a freesat box for them to work, or is that just for extra features?

You most certainly do get Channel 4 HD and Channel 5 HD(At certain times) There are quite alot of strange HD channels on Freesat also. Check your boxes firmware.
#22
@ Mark yes you do need ethernet or home plugs
#23
Great price. I got mine a few months ago for £59.99 from Tesco and thought I'd got a bargain!
Got rid of Sky and am well pleased with it. :D

Sky is so ludicrously priced, its not many months subs to add up to the same money as the best recording freesat box money can buy.

Do you know what for, surely all the information comes through the dish and thats only required should you want iplayer?
#26
If its anything like the humax foxsat box then you only need to connect it to internet if you want to watch iPlayer. Football looks stunning in HD - you'll never go back to SD.
#27
Sorry wouldn't recommend the Grundig, for some reason BBC HD jerks, other HD channels are okay. Swapped with my Humax and it doesn't have the issue so don't think it;s a cable issue.

No the iplayer is via the internet so you need to be connected to your router
#29
itv iplayer soon on freesat aswell also freesat sd picture slightly better than freeview in my opinion
#30
is this nationwide offer?
#31
You do NOT need an ethernet connection for this. If you want to watch BBC iPlayer (or the upcoming addition of ITV player, which has been coming soon for ages) then you need one. To watch tv, and HD tv, you do not need an ethernet connection.

Yes, and most definitely better than Sky's SD picture quality.
#33
Thanks for clearing that up lakeside
#34
its in chelmsford sainsbury so is nation wide :)
#35
Can you plug in a UDB HDD to this to record? Nearly bought the Humax FVHD box for £90, but have a sattelite dish and this is half the price, but would like to record.
#36
Didnt have then in any of the major stores around newcastle. The employees hadnt even heard of them before in fact!
#37
I would be really grateful if anyone can help me to buy one of these, as Sainsbury near me has no stock
#38
Got one of these for my mam and dad for christmas. The epg is rubbish, not much better than a FTA box.

That said, for £50 this is still a good deal. Hope it is nationwide and I can grab one.
