How many were left?
#3
About 20 near the tills.
#4
97p tags mean store specific. Very good deal, but likely to be limited availability.

any chance for the sku ? will try and ring the helpline.
#6
any chance of posting the SKU code?

It means disscontinued clearance stock, so won't be much stock at all but will be the same price everywhere.

In theory, yes you are right. When I worked for DSG (6 years ago), discounted clearance, i.e., 97p lines, were often only discounted at certain stores to make way for new lines.

Though things may have changed now, but judging by their dreadful stores and presentation, part of me thinks not!
#8
hot deal if you need it and can get it.

What I dont understand is why do currys staff get all moody when you find something cheap and you enquire
they just come out with we will be making a lose, I dont think other stores would sell it at this price...

I am speaking from experience

We bought three on Wednesday from Middlesborough, got them all so none left there.

yeah i can see them listed on ebay :whistling:

good deal, heat added
#10
anyone know if there are any in the brentford branch?
#11
Exeter now sold out - I got the last one of the stand by the tills. Cashier told me somebody had just been in and bought 25 of them. Now that is not on :x

There is still one out on display if somebody needs it.

Rep to the OP :)

A great picture every time!? not if there's heavy rain :x

Good price BTW, will check out my local tomorrow :)

This is about the 4th thread on HUKD (do a search) in the past month or so for these from Currys/PCW as their price has been steadily falling on clearance. First £69.97 then £49.97 now £29.97. it'll probably fall to £9.97 or less before it completely sells out. I picked up a solitary ADSL broadband modem for 97p the other day!

Most stock has been long since been snapped up at the earier discounted prices. There's been none left in the Midlands for weeks now apart from tatty incomplete ones.

Could luck to those that can find the odd ones but dont waste too much fuel drivng around trying to find them.

Disgraceful isn't it, the greed, no wonder the country is going down the drain, they should limt these clearance bargains to 2 max per person.

Great price to get for FreesatHD, got mine when it was on clearance in DSG stores over a month ago, but it was only a displayed one for £70, someone bought the last new one in the morning :x

Never seen it back in my local store again, thought this model was cleared out long ago, so don't understand why some stores still have so many(25+?) new ones left near tills? and selling for £25? it's a suprise the staff didn't nab them all & ebay them.
#16
dcx_badass
I think the one person buying 25 is BS and some staff bought them. But if someone did fair enough, no problem from me, if someone sees an opportunity and goes for it good for them.

yeah it's easy saying that when you've bagged 3 new ones safe & sound, can't imaging you saying the same thing if the person(or even staff) before you bought all the stock & wasted your trip :whistling:

Do you have to call with the sku code, can you check online or ?

Thanks,
#18
yeah but some ppl like to come to forums to brag about it, how they managed clear the rest of the stock in the store etc. Just be grateful and consider yourself lucky that you managed to get it.
#19
Stunning price, still amazed at the £50 one i got from here. HD for free is brilliant, but slightly lacking though, bbc hd is the only realy channel.

If that's true, it's quite incredible. Smalltimers/cheapskates I imagine would buy in such exorbitant numbers.

No reason to disbelieve the girl on the till she said the security guard had to help her untag them all - the OP also stated there was 20 available there earlier. I told her I thought it was ridiculous selling that sort of quantity to one customer...which it is.

Yes it is. I've seen it done before so I have less reason to disbelieve it.

For that sort of environment, they should really restrict numbers.

Agreed, and they do sometimes.

However, it's fairly obvious that this item is clearance ... so restricting sales to one or two per customer is somewhat counter-intuititve to the initial reduction in my eyes
#24
at this price I imagine even restricting to 2 per customer, it'll still sell out like hotcakes. Another idea is to spread these clearance stocks around the country, give every store simliar stock, so more ppl will benefit, instead 20+ in some stores & nothing in others, and it'll help to prevent ppl clearing 20+ from a single store.

That's true.

I use a Foxsat HDR but would have like one as a supplementary unit for a spare tv. Oh well...

Oh, I'm certainly not for it; but if I were DSG, I'd not give a monkey's who bought them. Being Grundig, I suspect these were still not sold at a loss regardless!
#28
still no sku code?
#29
not by the looks of it

stop blubbering about ppl buying them and post the sku please ppl
#30
lol. i do laugh when people complain about others buying in bulk.
I believe this is called "business". The general idea is, you buy something cheap, then you sell it on at a markup. Making a profit...
Guess what, Tesco's, PC World, Curry's... all do the same thing. (or try to)
This is not the reason the country is going down the pan... the reason this country is going down the pan is because of all the people who do not have the initiative to work out HOW to make money. And would rather rely on the taxes paid by those who can work out how to make money.

But this is a bargain!!
#31
Can anyone be bothered to search the 69.67 and 39.97 threads and see if there is an sku?

To be honest I think your talking absolute rubbish. The country thrives upon entrepreneurial instinct. If I saw 25 of these at this price and knew that I could make a considerable profit on them I would have bought them all too. If you don't have the means or knowledge to sell them and make a profit then unlucky. If a person sees a deal first and decides to buy them all I say good luck to them! If they then want to tell other HDUK members that the offer exists in other parts of the country and they may be able to get some for the same price then it's a privilege and shouldn't be taken for granted. Some of you guys expect too much! In these times of hardship it's every man and women for themselves to make ends meet. To all those jealous people out there I would say grow up!
#33
look for my post for the sku code

....and by the way I didn't get any! But to the guy who bought 25 I say well done.

+1  precisely "in times of hardship" more people should be cared for & have better chance of getting a bargain. (talking sense = talking rubbish, some people  )

buying a few e.g. 2 or 3 for personal use or for friends & family is ok, but clearly profiteering, buying all the stock, is clearly depriving other people an opportunity of a bargain, & it's really strange to see some people who didn't manage to find one saying "well done", "good on you", when that profiteer deprived you an opportunity of getting a bargain, would you buy the more expensive one off them, on ebay? so that person can make a profit from you?

there are MANY other better ways of entrepreneurship to improve the economy of this once great country, but time used (wasted) to scouring & hoovering up cheap clearance items and then selling it on for a small profit (sometimes really small), can be much better/efficiently used elsewhere, maybe get better educated? better trained? better job? start a proper business? investments? earn more money? make big bucks? that's what knowledge is for ;-)

yep, and pretty much most of the deals posted here on hukd, especially non essential goods

actually avoid hukd altogether, visiting this site you'll see lots of good deals & ends up buying them & spending too much money :whistling:

Calm down folks... there is more chance of coping off with Cheryl Cole tonight than finding one of these....

if you read my post 18 above you'll see this has been on Hot Deals time and time again so they almost all have been snapped up weeks and weeks ago. It'll be like trying to find that elusive Curtis Blu-ray player at Currys!!

There is probably only a dozen or so of these still left anywahere in the Country and most likely those will be ex-display. There's been NO prisitne ones in the Midlands for weeks now.

Well done to the OP for fininding a store with more than an ex-display in stock. They were possibly sent to Exeter as a final clearance batch as it's in a current DSO area. (Or no-one ever shops at PCW Exeter!!) :whistling:

im determined to fine one now kar999.
As that then means i can cop off with Cheryl Cole. I shall return soon.... watching her on HD.
