this is my first post so hope i have done everything right ,there are probably better bikes around at the retail price but in the 200 quid bracket you cant go far wrong with this and they seem to have stock in all sizes, also another model with disc brakes for another £50 but in this price range in my opinion id stick with the v-brakes

A good deal, these normally retail at around the 250 to 300 mark and rate highly as a budget buy, closest bike in terms of quality and price would be a halfords carrera vulcan v spec at 240.

Can anyone comment on how this compares to the Halfords deal posted http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_779797_langId_-1_categoryId_165534

I need something to do normal road and general riding with the kids and feel probably both would do the job but not sure for the price which is the better deal?

there isn't much between the 2....most people would say your better off with no front suspension than cheap and nasty spring forks....the Vengeance sport is a very good deal at £249 as it has hydraulic disc brakes and more branded parts
