I think this dropping so much so quickly is a good indicator that the game didn't live up to the hype!

I don't know about GT5, I recently tried it out on my bro's PS3, and it didn't do it for me, I much prefer Forza 3.

guess it was a good thing I missed out on monday, I have a £10 off £50 voucher so it'll be £79.99 for me. would have been nice if it was a maybe another £10-£20 cheaper, knowing my luck I order today and in the next week or so they drop it to nearer £50-£60.

I don't think the drop indicates disappointment (which it admittedly was compared to the high expectations but was still a great game) but rather that the audience wasn't interested in such a highly priced collection. Its dropped because these are not selling but the game itself still is selling and is a good game, too bad it didn't live up to the hype with bad AI and inconsistent graphics but in the end flaws or not the game came out and was something I'm sure driving fans want if they have a PS3. Could have been better but could haves don't destroy everything good about it so oh well.
I'm voting hot since you also get game card points and with the lucky gamer codes this could easily be made a little cheaper too.

DK is talking about the standard edition price not having dropped, not the signiture edition.
I stopped myself from getting the standard edition from pcw/currys when they where doing the, spend £50 get gt5 for £20 offer(was only a 3day offer as it ended sunday 27th november).

This game was regarded as the second biggest disappointment of 2010. Apart from final fantasy XIII (unless you count the british coalition government of course).

Kinect and Alan Wake and the lack of anything to make Playstation owners jealous (Mass Effect 2 aside ) must be the biggest gaming disappointments this year . Hang on im sure i read Mass Effect 2 is heading to PS3 soon anyway .

well I've taken the risk of it falling even further in the run up to christmas and just ordered it for £79.99(with £10 off £50 voucher, I didn't use any of my reward points).

Fowler...I know what DKs saying but if you look at my orig comment the first relates to the game itself, where second part relates to this specific deal

The fact the ltd ed has dropped so fast in price is NOT a good sign at all...great price...at best an average game

Yeah you are right, PS3 is getting Mass Effect 2, but a better version with some extras.

And yes ODB, i was talking about the standard edition. It's nowhere near a disappointment though, it's an amazing racing simulator as always, but i think it's not the genre that most people like playing.
Any reason for a drop in the signature edition would surely be because it was priced too high to begin with.
But anyway, a price drop does not mean a game is pants, Halo Reacharound hasn't even been out 3 months and that was £17.99 a few days ago.

Think £80 for this is outrageous, let alone £150. (Not voting either way, as it appears to be a hot price for this edition, but can't bring myself to vote hot)

dear lord please try not to make this into a 360 vs PS3 thread...AGAIN...

I love the way you always slate Halo...like its the only 360 game FFS! You cant compare them though, for a start a lot of games come down in price once the inital hype is over, plus you always get deals like that towards christmas (wasnt it a 1 day special anyway?). Point is though its not like for like...its not been in development for years like GT5 and delayed and delayed.

However you have inadvertantly just said Halo Reach is a good game, so you failed there!

Dont like racers but can play odd one occassionally like Bunout etc but GT5 strikes me as hugely dull...a lot of people have said the same, would prefer something like blur or split second for entertainment tbh

I'm not trying to start a fanboy argument. I just simply mentioned a game that has recently seen a large price drop.
I'm not trying to slate Halo, and i never said it's a bad game. I would call it an average game that has it's good moments.

Of course GT5 will seem dull to most people, even i would get bored of just playing simulation racers and i tend to find arcade racers more enjoyable. I'm always switching between games like arcade racers, shooters, adventure games etc. But in it's genre, simulation racing, it's the best.

I think it says more about the Signature Edition being ridiculously over priced, rather than the game being a flop. NFS came out five days before and is now just over £20!

It wasn't as polished as I thought it would be, but still a great package if you like that sort of thing. It wasn't for me, but that was a genre thing and I traded it and I got NFS instead, which I'm loving. I thought I had to go to CVG etc for these arguments!

You realise both those things (on 360) that you mentioned are actually massively popular? Kinect outsold PSmove in the days it was on sale compared to the 2 months the move was on sale. And actually Kinect has a title that rightfully does make it stand out (dance central) as its the only title from either of those controllers lineup that does revolutionize anything and make the controls stand out as not just an alternative control system. That is full body motion dancing rather than just the old tap tap on the floor so it has moved on whereas move is still just copying wii. When it comes to games coming out none have a killer app (except dance central) but the move is pathetic in that most of the titles that people want for it the controller isn't even needed for (e.g. killzone 3, socom, RE5 etc) making it pointless to own. At least kinect is actually looking to add potential (I say potential as I'm not arrogant to believe they'll just be great no matter what) killer apps ontop of dance central like Steel Battalion, Project Draco and Star wars which you need kinect for and its not just an alternate control scheme (like most move games where you don't need the controller as they work with PS3 too).

A staged video, or a trailer does not make a "Killer App".
Not been gaming long have you?
Don't make me use the Star Wars Kinect GIF.....
On a side note, here's an article about GOTY 2011.

Like I said in the brackets they have potential to be, not necessarily are killer apps but compared to the move lineup what is there? That you can only play on move and not with a PS3 pad? But why the hell would ask if I've been gaming long and pass off an over cinematic indiana jones / tomb raider clone that doesn't revolutionize or even refine the genre or gaming at all? You pick a current PS3 fan favourite (albeit a bad one) and say that is suddenly the best??? I'll explain why your wrong below.

You mean they're going to loop the story again??? Drake injured (similar to train injury?, which by the way they made you play that scene twice lol), some vehicle involved (train / plane), going to get screwed over by some mercenary (like uncharted 1 and 2), going to learn about treasure but bad guys will get to it first despite drake having all the clues and learning it before them (lovely illogical leaps :D), some overly cinematic scenes that whoo graphics whores, find treasure but MONSTORS!!, must retrieve treasure from evil bad guy in final boss fight.
Honestly I played uncharted 1 and 2 in one weekend and it was bad. Its popular but oh is it bad. The game practically mimiced its own story, crapped on the fighting mechanics making it too easy and over simplified, had minorly (not going to exaggerate this really as no point) finnicky climbing and the story was plain and simple. combine that with a stereotypical cast of sully (the old veteran buddy), chloe (the hot ex who wants to make off with the treasure), elena (the hot headed but quick whitted reporter) and the other guy (forgot his name) who is just a rival that is very similar to drake. Chuck all this **** in a new setting and change the vehicle from a train to a plane, the monsters to different monsters and the tomb to another tomb and its GOTY? Sorry I'm not so easily pleased by one of the most poor and overhyped stories I've seen in a long time. Lets face it the games mechanics don't even stand out as its been done better elsewhere. MGS has better aiming, narrative and Story structure, GOW had better puzzles / platforming (massive 3D cubes, the maze level that had a perspective based puzzle and others) and the cover was done way tighter and better in gears of war.
I found uncharted stood out in no way and the only thing that people said was good was narrative (sadly attached to a bad and stereotypical plot) and the characters (which by the second game I could tell were regressing into set roles and being stereotypes so hardly believable). It's a pants game but it'll be damn popular so your right it may be GOTY 2011 because people eat up that over cinematic and **** easy gameplay that takes no effort.

Before you get me wrong I'm not a fanboy, PS3 has some amazing games like valkyria chronicles, god of war and metal gear but Uncharted is a game I played with no expectations and tried to like but found repetitive, weak plot and nothing that made it stand out. Follow this with it practically repeating its story structure in uncharted 2 (while also making the actual gameplay elements like fighting and platforming worse) and I was shocked it got such a good critical response. Its a good game, probably 8/10 because it survives on having good (even if not stand out) mechanics and graphics but its nothing special and to call it GOTY 2011 is an insult to games really as its just a game that tries to mimic hollywood movies and it succeeds, but man does it succeed in taking the bad with the good. People just don't notice because they like the game and aren't objective. And don't forget its also linear in its single player which is its main attraction.

((((HUGE RANT BUT DO NOT BOTHER RESPONDING UNLESS YOU CAN ACTUALLY REFUTE THE POINTS, GOOD ARGUMENTS ARE BASED ON RESPONDING AND DEBUNKING OTHERS ARGUMENTS SO GIVE IT A GO)))

I don't mind, my style is usually out think them, trolls are notoriously dumb and can't defend games on there actual merits so I use fair comparisons and actually analyse the mechanics and conventions of the game to show them the short comings that they can't refuse. In the end leave them be and they'll keep doing it so I just post the crap out of them and show I know well more than them so they can return to there hovel with there nothing between there legs.

I would certainly buy it again, I paid £129.99 for mine, then bought another with £20 off, took the first one back got refund on £129.99 kept mine for £109.99

but soooooo would buy it again for £89.99 the contents of the package are worth it imo.

So what do you get extra on the signature:

Metal case (big deal)
Model car (wow!)
Leather wallet to keep it all in (pointless)
Branded USB key (so you can show your friends the trailer on it)
A coffee table book (your Mum (or carer) won't want that on the coffee table for too long I suspect.)
Entry in to a competition (probably the only thing of any note in this version)
Some extra cars (like the 1000 odd on there already aren't enough)

So this is why the price has fallen from £130 to £80. Anyone who paid the higher amount is either daft and minted or they think it will be worth money at some point in the future as a collectors item which is highly unlikely.

The price drop is nothing to do with the actual game which, apart from being slow loading from time to time is actually very good (especially if you have the hours to devote to playing it.)

As for the 360 v PS3 handbags on here all the time, they ain't football teams - buy and support both or neither if you like. You don't have to like one or the other.

Apologies Llost, I read the first line of your post and it reeked of xbox fanboy, who always quote sales when proclaiming something is better.
Now to the point I was trying to make.
You listed the 3 Kinect games stating they were killer apps, Dance Central may well be, however the others you listed have only been shown in Teaser form, much like the Uncharted teaser I used, they could turn out to be nonsense. By strict definition it is highly unlikely that these niche Japanese games would become "Killer Apps", not impossible, but unlikely.Star Wars is a different matter, the SW games have had their highs and lows over the years so only time will tell, if it becomes an "on rails" lightsaber game, it could be great or diabolical.
On the subject of Uncharted, it's clear that you do not like it, that's fair enough. However it was and still is regarded as a benchmark of quality for this console generation, you may not like it but frankly a hell of a lot of gamers and critics do.
and to call it GOTY 2011 is an insult to games really
As Uncharted 3 is an unreleased game, judging by UC2, GOTY is a possibility but not a certainty.
You mention the games mechanics, yeah not perfect, but they don't break the game, the cinematic feel and the atmosphere are easily the best on any console, IMO.
You were making an intellectual and valid argument until your last post, your air of superiority makes you sound like an arrogant ass. If you don't like what people post maybe you should use your obviously superior intellect and not reply. Now feel free to "post the hell" out of me, maybe i might learn something.
