I was in B&Q today solely to buy these and they were £9.98 for a pack of 4????????????? I was gobsmacked and just left it

Got a homebargains in my town so thanks a million for posting this

Been this sort of price in the cheapo shops for months if not longer, thought it was the going rate
#3
tip if you get leds make sure they have atleast 78leds or got the florencent ones for £6 from tesco or asda gu10's

This was the Stroud branch, BAR CODE 5022822141896 Made by STATUS. No, I've never heard of them either!!

good advice
it makes the room darker when you switch on some led lights

Always 2 for £1 at pound land... And they do appear to last as long as any "premium" brands.
#7
Unless they've recently changed dramatically, the Poundland ones are rubbish. The reflectors leak a lot of light and the light isn't a consistent colour.

have a look in your local Boyes ,i think these where 4 for 99p

Florry GU10's are £5 at our Tesco's except twice a year when they are half price (you know how they come around regularly), my advice is get your pencil and paper out (possibly calculator as well) and work out how much you will save with the 7W florry's. I did this for a friend of ours who has a Salon with 12 GU10 lamps, based on 40 hours per week she saved £189 in 1 year, more than enough to pay for the £30 for the lamps, she even said she'd have paid the full price if I'd told her how much she'd save sooner!! The thing is if you don't do the sums you'll never know.

The light she gets is much whiter and even though they take 30 to 60 secs to warm up that's not an issue. She had a business rate which is a little higher than domestic tariff (19.58p). Usage in various rooms in a house will yield different savings.

We then replaced the 40W SES Spots which were 62p each, these paid for them selves in less than 3 weeks. These come on straight away but do project a little further.

Go on, get your calculators out and realise the savings.

Where you based?

Try specialist lamps or Newey & Eyre, Edmondsons etc
#13
Thanks Gap30, will do that. We have an Edmundsons near.
As to the quality of these bulbs they look exactly the same as any other, only time will tell!!
As to the price, Wilkinsons sell the same bulbs for £3.99, so not sure if £0.99 is the norm for the cheepy shops.

I live in a small town and 3 shops sell 2 GU10's for 99p or £1 , so yes it seems to be the going rate in quite a few shops

As rightly said they are always this price, but hey not everybody knew about it so it's hot from me. I also agree that they do last as long as the overpriced one's at B&Q etc, etc.

Are you trying to be funny or are you just being dim...no pun intended.

In case the obvious isn't clear enough for you, the reflector is the mirrored dimpled bit around the edge that supposed to make all the light come out of the front of the bulb, on the Poundland ones, the silvered bit is so thin that light comes out all around the bulb meaning you get less in the direction you point the bulb. The colour varies from a yellow to blue and even pink tinge rather than being a consistent white light. As I said, they're rubbish.

No offence mate, been an approved spark for a long time, obviously you work for Philips, Sylvania or Megaman as you obviously have an inside working knowledge on such matters
