Indeed they are.. I went back in to get some bread anyway and this time I saw the 3 for £18 signs. Yay, good timing for me to get booze just before my upcoming nuptials.

Heated and repped earlier.

Hot deal will nip later, lets hope they dont run out of limes.......
#6
It's limited to 6 per customer, so bring a friend or two if you plan to get more!
#7
Good offer, don't fancy any of these beers though. Heat added in any case
#8
Any idea about sizes of bottles/cans & how many per case?
#9
beat me to it!! was just about to post this!

The sizes are:

Strongbow 12x440ml
Tetleys Smoothflow 12x440ml
Guinness Draught 10x440ml
Carlsberg 12x440ml
Cobra 12x330ml
Sol 12x330ml

Very nice. Not too fizzy either. The best (IMO) is the Sol in this deal. If only they had Corona...that is the ultimate for me.
#13
good for alcholics anonymous:w00t::thinking::w00t::thumbsup:
#14
can see the pubs going out of business with these offers lol
#15
might have to stock up on sol at this price
#16
not as good as last years as it was the same, but the strongbow were 15 cans in each case.
Still.. 36 cans for £18 whey.
#17
VERY rare to see sol in a offer like this.

HOT!

Why can you never get Tennents in England?
#19
Where supermarkets get difficult to compare is when they do similar offers, but on different pack sizes.

For example....Tesco are doing 2 for £15 on Tennents, but an 18pk instead of £12. 3 for £18 sounds better, but taking into account the smaller pack size Tesco's deal is slightly cheaper per can.

Guinness is also 2 for £15 at Tesco, but it's a 12pk instead of 10pk - which is only about 2p per can more.

All good offers, heat added, but handy if you don't live near a Morrisons / or Tesco etc, that the offers are much the same.

Why would you want to? It's rank!

(and I know a story behind why it's so rank but I'm not posting it on here)

So Tennents are owned by Bass then.

I went to Glasgow a few years ago and wondered why the Tennents cans looked exactly the same as our Carling cans just that the Tennents cans were yellow / red whereas Carling cans are white / black.

Presumably because they're both owned by the same company.

Is there any difference between the taste?

That's always been the case as far as I can remember. That said, you NEVER used to be able to get Carling in Scotland.

Both are equally disgusting imo.

Yeah Carling is very watery tasting, I dislike most lagers in the 4% abv region. Love Carling Premier though.

Apparently in other parts of the world Carling is still known as "Carling Black Label" and in South Africa it's 5.5% abv. Wonder if that's any nicer?

Guinness is brewed in Nigeria and there it is 7.5% abv. It tastes just the same, but gives you twice the hangover!

They sell that over here now aswell it's called Guiness Foreign Extra, nice but does taste a bit stronger imo.

In Czech Republic and Poland they sell Budvar (Czech Busweiser) in strenghs of 4%, 5% and 16% abv. Also Stella Artois at 12% abv.

My dad brought some fo the 16% abv Budvar back with him and it tasted ok. Wasn't treacly at all like I expected and a hell of a lot nicer than the likes of Carlsberg Special Brew (even though it was stronger than Special Brew the fact that it was nicer actually made it taste weaker than Special Brew!)

No proof sorry but I worked there up till May last year and they produce Tennents along with the likes of Stella, Murphys, Boddingtons etc.

Proof. Really?

Does this therefore also prove that Staropramen, Leffe, Beck's and Hoegaarden are all brewed in Wales?

Yeah, probably. Why not?

Anyway, I don't think the simple question, proof? was really very nice in the first place!

Fair comment. I think that it really helps the whole atmosphere on this board when people make an effort to be polite.

36 bottles of sol for £18
in my local towns (not london) bars that'd cost at least £129.60 (£144 in others), is it any wonder the government and bar owners / landlords complain.

why does it cost £3.50 to £4 a beer in city centre bars ???
Anyones guess..
and don't even get me on europe 7-8 euros a bottle

ps. can anyone really tell the difference between sol and corona anyway, once its cold and has a lime in the top
