Not sure how long the offer is on for (was still available tonight - receipt checks out ok) but the only other time I've seen it for this price was just before x-mas. If you've wanted to try it, then now is a good time as the usual offer you'll find is "3 bottles for £4".

Nigerian Guiness is THE

business but this is still hot though!
#8
i LOVE Guiness, but this stuff is rank!!
#9
Is this meant to be like the proper Irish Guinness that people rave about then? Or is it something else?

no, this is nothing like guiness you would get in a pub. For a start, it's carbonated and its not creamy.... I presonally do not like this stuff at all
#11
I love a decent pint of Guinness but I can't drink this stuff.... I think I managed about half a bottle !
#12
I'll buy a bottle and give it a try, but I might be too used to the UK stuff.
#13
worth a try for a quid if you havent tried it before like me

Ditto. Will give it a try but if it's nothing like regular tap Guiness then I won't expect I'll like it :?
#15
It's like Guinness original, i.e. gassy not smooth. but far stronger. It has a real kick to it and tastes more like an Imperial Stout than Guinness.

ASDA also has other beers for a quid, including the lovely Riggwelter and Old Peculier.
#16
The first few sips are ok, but then it tastes like you are drinking black treacle or something!

as others have said this is nothing liked the Draught that you get in your local...its the original stout..a thinner more crisp consistency but lots of bitter sweet flavour......i prefer it served cold on a hot day...but for now I'll have to make do with serving it cold on a cold day! ....watch those numbers though....at 7.5% you need to tread carefully
#18
This is not the Nigerian one, the Nigerian foreign extra has 'imported' in small red near the bottle of the label and is in 325ml bottles, this one is brewed in Ireland and is in 330ml bottles. :p

Very nice nonetheless, much better than that ***** you get on tap IMO, I can't stand draught!
#19
Bargain, I love Guinness foriegn extra.

Not a new deal but I'll always vote Asda's £1 bottle deals hot!
Look at

There are some new J W Lees and Joseph Holt beers at Asda on 3for£4. Limited availability though. Shame Asda haven't got a central online supply depot...

Good description. I didn't like it all that much before but now for some strange reason I luff it with a salad. ^_^

Anything like Newcastle Brown, but stronger?

When I first tried tap Guiness the only thing I could liken it to that I'd drunk was Newcastle Brown!
#23
From Wikipedia: "A distinctive feature is the burnt flavour which is derived from the use of roasted barley.". Well, it should be well roasted now! Some numpty set fire to the felt roof of the St Jame's Gate brewery in Dublin - while doing repairs with a blowtorch, for heaven's sake!
#24
... i was surprised how nice this was, it was on offer over christmas, as was Old speckled Hen et al ..... i really do recommend to drink this cold though... i found the really strong roasted barley too overpowering otherwise.
#25
its basically guiness super!!
#26
You can get Nigerian Guinness from Tesco.. £7 for 4 bottles usually.
#27

Ah, apologies. Maybe it's the Nigerian one that I don't like!

More like Old Tom (strong ale - the one with a kitty on the lable...tee hee!) than Newcastle Brown.

This juicy concoction is seriously good stuff. First time I tried it was last year and I fell in love. I like it very cold. I always buy this when it's on offer for £1. Do try it if you haven't done so before.

WHAT:w00t:\ I hope this is for the large bottles as you can get small bottles from the corner off licences for £1.39 and then sometimes 3 for £3.

Not talking about regular bottled Guinness or Foreign Extra - Nigerian import as per this article.
