Went into my local gamestation today in Preston, Lancashire and i saw a sign that said Guitar Hero 2 For the Xbox 360 will be only £44.99 with controller if the customer goes into the store on the Saturday which is the 7th April 2007!

The orginal price should be £69.99

I thought this was a clear bargain! Not sure if it is nationwide but most likely it will be!

So get yourself down there on the saturday!!

Thanks
JDX360!

You're sure of this? And that it isn't a trade in deal?

Would be very weird of a retailer to suddenly take £25 off of a new release...
#2
Positive just got back now!! Saw it there with my own eyes!! But it was for a limited time!

Saturday 7th April : 10am - 4pm!

Has anyone contacted any other gamestations to see if they are offering this at the same price? Seems a fantastic deal if its nationwide!
#11
seems a great price although it wouldnt suprise me if it were this price when purchased with something else?

normally have things like £xx.xx if purchased with an xbox360
#12
It is not it was on offer for some reason only if you went instore during the times stated and that was it!

I might get one! :)

Yeah, great.

Seems very odd if u ask me. I could understand it (although still not believe it) if it were a first day or week of release special. But Sat 10-4, what about the poor saps that buys it on day of release or Saturday morning before 10am :? Thats assuming they still have stock come Saturday.
#16
in my opinion it seems like a very clever marketing tactic because gamestation will probably have limited stock of guitar hero 2 and by getting everyone in to the shops to purchase one it allows them to sell other stock such as other games.....

its probably to get people into the shop in my opinion!

 :)

well if theres a massive sign in the window saying £44.99 from 10 til 4 on Saturday then its those 'poor saps' own fault for not being patient

surely someone on these boards works for Gamestation and can confirm this?
#18
like with everything if you wait a few weeks the price will tumble , i have enough to keep me occupied game wise til the summer when it will be £40 - £45
#19
I wouldn't honestly be suprised if this was true - Just look at that bundle they are doing for £304 at the moment...they're really putting their weight behind the xbox360. Right on says I

This sounds a good deal, shame that this game has such dire music with it, whats wrong with some decent indie rock or something less 'terrible 80's'?! Well, I reckon I'll be the only one on this board that thinks the songs that come with it are naff, but hey ho!!
#21
Why hasn't anyone else rang a gamestation store yet? Its not hard. I have been ringing my local 2 stores all afternoon and they are obviously too busy to answer their phones here.

Mate they aren't great songs i admit, but i have this game on PS2 and love it to bits and i have oredered it again on the 360 even though i don't like half the songs they grow on you and you will learn to love them! For example i have been listening to Kiss Greatest Hits for a couple of months now. Never in a million years would i of thought of listening to them!

In my opinion this game is worth getting at any the price especially if you are goin to be playin it with mates, gets so competitive!

Called my local store (Crewe), both the sales assistant and the manager had no idea what I was talking about.
#24
Called mine too (Wood Green, London), and the salesperson I talked to said they were running a promotion on the PS2 version, but there was no sign of anything for the 360 one...
But then again he said it could just be a case of miscommunication and that I should check back either tomorrow or on Saturday.
Anyone else found any further details?
#25
Called Dundee store and they also had not heard of any offer, if this turns out to
be a no-go the lowest I could find was from Play 3000 for £54.99.
#26
Also available in store (from yesterday) at Blockbusters for £59.99.
#27
http://www.foxy.co.uk/catalogue/games/101283778473921/Guitar+Hero+II/

£53.75

If you can use the £5 voucher then could be £48.75 with 3% making it cheaper for some. In fact I am off to order.

Anyway of confirming that? Probably the one I'm going to head for, seeing that the nearest Gamestation (and the offer which now seems non existent) is more than an hour away...

Does anyone know whether you can purcahse the guitar separately? :whistling:

A few peeps on AVforums bought theirs yesterday from Blockbusters for £59.99....probably worth ringing your local store just to check.

Any news on this? I tried the Camden Town branch and the guy had heard nothing about it.
Also tried the "hotline" on the website where I was told that I'd have to call my local branch to find out and refused to give me any more information...
Anyone having any luck?
#32
Well I just rang the Preston Gamestation Store as the Topic Creator said thats where he saw the offer. This is what the advisor Jenny said:

"We are having a competition in store on Saturday from 11am till 4pm. The person who gets the highest score on the game will get it for £44.99. The price for everyone else is £69.99."

There you go, rumour squashed. Why no-one else didn't ring the store is beyond me....
#33
lol... Reason I never rang up was because Preston would be a trek for me to get up to even if they had it for that price. Thanks for clearing that up...
Looks like I'll just have to wait for it to become a budget title :(

Hmmm, but I really hate classic rock music like guns n roses, metallica, iron maiden etc etc which is what this is all about isnt it?
#35
Yes thats exactly what Guitar Hero is, every single song is classic rock, so you won't like any of them. My favourite type of music is summed up by the bands you just described lol. So I will love it.

Just listened through the sample tracks on the website, liked about 3 out of about 30 or 40 they have to listen to, lol

Such a real shame, as I've always wanted to a: be in a band, b: play a guitar, and c: do it all easily!

Oh well :( Bring on Guitar Hero II Indie version... (much like singstar and its 'Rocks' version which is awesome!)

But then you would just be pressing the same button over & over without much variation.
