Brilliant, those are great prices. Ordered 2 different sizes for my sons, won't get used until next year onwards I guess as they need to grow a bit! ;-)

For beginners, here's the best advice you can get if you want to enjoy your body boarding/ surfing:

get wetsuit socks/ shoes/ dive boots ie http://www.amazon.co.uk/Osprey-Adults-Wetsuit-Boots-Size/dp/B0018S1KDO/ref=sr_1_3?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1405673649&sr=1-3&keywords=wetsuit+shoes

They should completely meet up with the bottoms of the legs of the wetsuit. Then you'll be boiling hot inside even in the cooler months (because the water heated up by your body mostly stays inside the wetsuit as opposed to draining out each time you stand up), which means you can stay in the water for ages as opposed to shivering after a few minutes.

Boots make ALL the difference, trust me, I'm an expert ;-)

The OSX boots are a bit cheaper than the Gul ones

Kids - better wetsuit than G Force for much the same price.

Unfortunately the olny one that's £30 is the size I need so I'll sit this one out ;-) - anybody find me a child's Gul Large for £15?

Do they keep you dry? If you swim in them?

Sizing is crazy

Nope, you get wet. But they fit tightly and trap a small amount of water inside. Within minutes your body temperature has warmed up the water inside the wetsuit to a toast 30C or so and as long as you don't let this water escape, you stay warm in the sea.

Hence my advice to buy boots.

Actually found the right size for £19 (Billabong) so happy with that

When I follow the boots link and enter size 9, it says "Gul Kids Power 5 mm Round Toe Boot" - wouldn't that be considered an adult size or are we talking small child size?

This link doesn't mention kids as far as i can see..

Thanks, but when I add to basket it is called "Gul Kids Power 5 mm Round Toe Boot - Black/Red, Size 9." It's the fact the description says KIDS, made me think it's not my size.

Doing the London Triathlon in 2 weeks time and although picked up a sleeveless tri-suit for the cycle and run still hadn't managed to pick up a wetsuit (compulsory) for the swim. Thank you so much OP, ordered in two sizes as they weren't very clear and will return the one that doesn't fit!

Checked http://www.gul.com, this range appears to be 4UK/37EU to 13UK/48EU, so seems to be adult sizes.

WET suit....... ;)

what you want is a dry suit and a totally different item and price but does exist, probably not great for swimming in tho.

These are no good for tri. You need a swim wetsuit.they help you float and glide through the water. This will slow you down.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, but can anyone help with an explanation of the difference between the Gul Men's Response 3/2 mm Flat Lock Steamer Wetsuit, and the Gul Men's Response 3/2 mm Blind Stitch Steamer Wetsuit. I'm assuming that 'Flat Lock Steamer' is a different stitch than a 'Blind Stitch Steamer' - are there pros and cons?

Also, I was thinking of getting a wet suit for sea and river swimming. Would these be suitable?

Size-wise, I have large thighs due to cycling and other training so I'm concerned I'll get the wrong size and struggle to get the wetsuit over them. Currently, I'm thinking Large is my best bet... Height:179.5cm (5.11), Waist 97cm (36), Hips 97cm, Chest:103/104cm. Any advice?

Many thanks!

Sorry, found this explanation about the deference between Blindlock and Flatlock stitching. Seems Blindlock is bestter...

Would appreciate some size advice though! :)

Any stitched wetsuit will let in small amounts of water.
Surfers use stitched & glued suits. And these days even w Merino wool lining, great in winter
As pointed out the blind stitching is best between the two on offer here.
good deal, not great for swimming as they'll filll up w water. But, that could be good resistance training as the suit is slowly pulling you down oO
