And if you added a USB powered monitor, it would almost be like having a Windows 8.1 tablet....oh that would be the Linx 10.1 then lol

Thats an excellent Price OP .. but isnt 2GB of RAM a bit 'low' for Windows 8.1?. :-)

No, Windows 8.1 is very RAM efficient. 1GB of RAM is even workable in the cheap 7" tablets.

what about tax and stuff?

1 Tb external hard disk is that true?

This looks really cool, very thin, much better than raspberry pi. It has a battery too!? Wow.

As far as 'and stuff' is concerned, DX always includes postage, but it isn't signed for. In around eight years using them I've only had an order go missing once, and they re-shipped as soon as I drew it to their attantion.

I ran the item through an online 'duty calculator' and it sugested you *might* have to pay £9 vat, butthat still strikes me as a very reasonable deal.

If you have one that you plug into one of the USB ports: sure. But the device doesn't come with one.

hmmm just need a cheap touchscreen and a proper car pc.

Yes. Plenty. Mainly "gadgets" and electronics. I got a couple of IPTV cameras and some other bits recently.
I've never had a problem with DX, although some stuff can take several weeks to arrive and you *do* have to read the descriptions carefully ... very, very, carefully. :)
I've never had anything lost, opened or received a tax/duty bill for stuff I've received, though I haven't ordered anything of any real value (typical orders are < $40).

Just don't expect it to arrive tomorrow and be prepared to swallow the cost if you inadvertently order something that you thought was different to what it turns out to be.

What would the performance of this be like?

That one also has ethernet which is a big plus for me. Could be a nice alternative to a HTPC build for Plex Media Server.
#16
Looks good, but thankfully I can't justify spending any more money on tech just at this moment!

Wanna get this but unsure? Could anyone give a couple of good examples of what situations that this would be good for?

Wanna get this but unsure? What would be some good uses for this? I already have a PC, Laptop and a Tablet, just wondered if this would be able to fulfil a different purpose?

I've got Linux 10 tablet and couldn't fault it has nearly same specs, if you have a touchscreen monitor then to.me it's a must, it's a fresh difference from android and ios. maybe not better but good for.My pc stuff. tempted to get one for.My 23 inch touchscreen

The baytrail J1800 / J1900 has the lack of HD sound passthrough. As these are baytrail too, is the HD passthrough not available either??

Looks like an excellent deal for basic computer. This is really tempting. No need to mess around with raspberry pi. Like the idea with the built-in battery. Really want to order this although don't really need one lol.

If you think of it as a tablet computer without a screen, I think that narrows it down a bit.

Looks like a good alternative to an Android TV box for running XBMC.
Appears to be good quality and with it being Windows it should run XBMC and other apps very well.
Possible Apple TV killer right there...

Looks like a beast. Can't really justify spending this amount of money though....

I've ordered from DX before
takes 7-14 days to get here
they normally mark the item as gift to avoid tax for us

Yes - excellent website. I have used it for years never had any issues what so ever. Their pricing varies as everything includes worldwide shipping but I have found them the cheapest by far on many occasions.

Should be reasonable, Windows 8 is good with low end hardware as it remains responsive for general tasks and the new Atom processor is a big improvement on its predecessor. I have a Dell Venue 8 pro with a similar processor and ram running Windows 8.1 and it's very usable.

Right, so I got suspended for posting a BangGood deal for a SJ4000 camera (and then questioning why the Mod's were banning such deals)...for the reason that the company was based outside of the UK.
So could someone please tell me how DX are eligible, and companies such as BangGood aren't?!
This website really frustrates me - because I know that there are lots of deals that pass us all by simply because HUKD deems some companies acceptable with bad customer service records (Dabs, Very etc), and then bans others for such silly reasons.

This might give u a few ideas http://liliputing.com/2014/12/guleek-i8-tiny-cheap-windows-pc-battery.html
Useful device if u have a really small house but don't see the point when you can pick up the Linx tablets so cheaply when they are on offer. Looks like very similar spec but with the cheaper tablet you also get a screen....

Surely a Linx 7 or 8 would be a better bet than this? 32GB of storage, same processor, and an Office 365 code that you could resell for ~£40....

Something tells me you were suspended for more than just postin a deal....

It's PRESALE. So who knows when you'll get it.

Also EU plug so you'll need an adapter.

Skip from me.

Absolutely cracking deal and worth at least twice the asking price.

Well spotted ;)

I got the 10.1" Linx Tablet last week which also has 2GB of RAM and so far I've not experienced any issues with the RAM amount, What's more worrying is the Storage capacity, 16GB is not enough, The Tablet I got came with 32GB of space and had a little over 20GB free space but after installing all the updates, I was left with 17GB. So you could find yourself with major storage issues very soon. and just with the OS with it's monthly security updates, and no other programs installed.

Other than that this seem like a great little Mini-Pc for the price.

Yes, for questioning why some retailers were valid, and others were not. The mod's were evasive and could not justify why some companies were banned.
HUKD are running a business off our collective efforts. They should be trying to work in our best interests.
That is why I am surprised to see DX deals coming up on here. If the mod's stuck to the lines they spun me, DX would be banned for the same reasons BangGood are banned...
