There is a large market in laundered fuel - Red diesel where the colour has been taken out by filtration or similar. But the fuel is probably safe to use unless acid was used to take the colour out. Illegal of course.
However the suppliers of dodgy fuel (30,000 litres for £16k cash - mate) often use kerosene (heating fuel) to cheaply bulk it up- or neat kero if they are really bad.The kerosene has no lubricating properties and the fuel pump/and or injectors will soon pack up (less than a thousand miles - not immediately)
You may or may not connect your engine problems with your last fill, You might just get away with one fill if you were not empty when you last filled up as the some lubrication remains...or if the garage owner had quite a bit of fuel left in the huge tank when he bought the bad fuel.
Many smaller garages have a brand name outside but when you go to the actual pumps you will note that the branding is not there (the big name/brand is just there for the shop)- you might assume you are buying branded fuel but the owner can be free to source from wherever seems a good deal...............
I'm sure this place is fine though.
From my experiences I only buy Diesel from large supermarkets or if caught out, garages that have the name of the fuel on the pump itself.
I realise it is a shame to avoid small retailers who have almost certainly done nothing wrong....

you do realise, not so long ago, Tesco had problems with silicone in their petrol. Big chains are probably worse!
Tryes 97p?
What size? oO
Why is fuel so expensive in UK????

In actual fact fuel in the UK is some of the cheapest in Europe, it's just the tax and duty that is added to it that makes it more expensive. This is such a well known fact I don't know why you asked the question, perhaps you live on an uninhabited part of the country.

just an immigrant asking out of curiosity
Near me but not near enough. Anyway, looks like all fuel prices about to come down again with the supermarkets leading as usual. We have an Asda fuel station opening in a week or so, wonder what that will start at to get the customers in?
Good price if you`re close.
I just filled up my car this morning in Donegal,Ireland,82.7p per litre for diesel:)
Probably red diesel...
Maxol station.
They will most definitely have franchises who will be free to buy from whom they wish oncew they have purchased there quota from Maxol....
If you check fuel prices in Ireland, you`ll see that 80-85p is the price for diesel nationwide.

£1.03 in my local ASDA ?
This post is surely a wind up! Or the OP does such a low mileage he/she has not filled up in many months.
I wouldn't even push my car into that garage if it had run out of diesel 5 metres away at that price I would walk to the next one with a can :D;)

Diesel only 99.9p per litre. Filled up here on 21.12.15. Not sure whether it's at Gulf petrol stations nationwide or not but certainly cheaper than local supermarkets.

I was running around Stockwell (London) earlier this week.

I don't drive, but even my attention was drawn to the price at the pumps of the local (Gulf) - I believe it was 117.9p. I don't feel sorry for drivers often, but that is one heck of a "London" premium!
seems to be around £1.05 in north wales and was as high as £1.10 last week diesel is subsidising petrol at the moment.
Deisel is also the same price as this at Chaddesley Corbett garage near Kidderminster.

Petrol priced at 99.9 @ Gulf Leighton Buzzard

Petrol priced at 99.9p at Gulf Leighton Buzzard on Lake Street. Morrisons, which was a few yards away were priced at 105.9p Shared Via The HUKD App For Android.

Not in my area :(
they are copying BP who are closer and charging 116.9 a rip off

False economy.

Leighton Buzzard is an absolute hell hole, you'll likely be car jacked or shot going to get your "cheap" petrol

Hell hole? Hardly anything ever happens here.
Blimey, if you think this is a hell hole, try Fishermead and Springfield in MK, Lakes Estate, Bletchley, Marsh Farm and Lewsey in Luton, Dunstable, Houghton Regis (shall I go on?)

Passed this one on Saturday and thought it seemed really cheap.

'Will the last person out of the town please turn the street lights out'...
Thats how quiet Leighton Buzzard is...
A very sleepy town cocooned by not so sleepy places that do have a reputation...
just watch 24hrs in Police Custody
