I wouldnt buy an album like this digitally, buy it on disc, rip it a high bit rate to enjoy it fully. i will.

£5 may be the cheapest, but it's still £5 too much for MP3s. MP3s are worthless.

The CD is £8.99 from HMV with an exclusive 7" of the Chinese Democracy single. If you're at all a fan, get it there.

I received this free vinyl from HMV online also, but there is no mention of it on the site :?. Don't know if it was only with pre-orders or if it is a permanent free gift.

why waste time and money burning it to cd, just put it straight onto ipod cds are now a waste of time

Listened to the preview online last week and sorry it's just not the same without Slash. AFD was so much better. Not a bad album but I won't be parting with my cash even if it is a fiver. Must agree that if I were to buy it I would get a CD copy.

As shanecr pointed out previously, what you will download will not be of the quality of a CD recording. This download is in MP3 format at 320kbps. That's a pretty high bitrate, but nowhere near as good as CD audio. I have never, and will never, download any music until it's offered in a lossless format. And that's without the question of actually paying for the priviledge. For probably not even £2 more I could buy any album on that site and rip it myself in a lossless format, however I want, without the pain in the **** that is DRM and low bitrate.

I thought 128 kbps compressed by a good encoder was CD quality :? failing that 160.

Mine already ordered from BangCD :)

Cool. First to mention it.

128Kbps is typical MP3 encoding quality, for some reason that's become default and when details of MP3 players and storage capacity is given, whatever number of thousands of MP3 tracks something can hold is always calculated by assuming 126Kbps encoding. This is nowhere near even tolerable for me personally.

I'm realistic, and my MP3 player uses M4A at 190Kbps. This is fine because I'm not really appreciating such high audio quality while I'm out and about, and it's a compromise to afford more space. However, these are converted from my main collection which is ripped in FLAC for use at home. FLAC is a type of lossless format, and there are a number of others, Microsoft's WMA lossless and Apple's AAC lossless for example. FLAC encoded tracks very rarely go below 1000Kbps. There's a price to pay for storage, granted, but it is CD quality music that you listen to, and that's what it takes.

I ordered it online just last week with the free 7", but you're right, no mention of it now. Maybe it was pre-orders only. Or while stocks last. Although they didn't say that at the time. Glad I didn't follow my original plan and try to get it in store tonight, even though the ******* thing hasn't arrived, despite being mailed Friday morning.
