  I joined B'ham one when was 10.99 and very pleased I did. Very good value, clean, no frills gym with a good selection of top quality equipment which is all brand new at opening. Once a quota has been filled the price goes up firstly to 12.99 then 15.99 so join quick!

  I joined the one in Hounslow, and it was brilliant value. My only regret is that I live so far away. Best value gym by far, as they had an abundance of equipment, complete with individual showers, unlike LA Fitness. They also don't rip you off with huge admin fees, it's usually open 24 hours a day, they cater for 30 day rolling contracts, and the equipment is usually in good condition.
  
  I use to go to Virgin Active, so I know good quality when I see it, and if you can live with there being there extras (no swimming pool or sauna, no free internet, no free towel etc), it's worth checking out.

  Not really. These places try to cater for all sorts and so aren't really for the serious bodybuilder/powerlifters, although that's not to say you won't get some use out of them. You should be able to cobble enough disks on the Olympic bars but the dumbbells fizzle out at about 35kg. Moreover, there is pretty much only one of each size above 20kg and never enough benches. Avoid peak periods if you can. Can't grumble about the prices, though.

  can you imagine the clientelle if they are only charging £10??? i mean, Fitness First is bad enough with the posers and meat heads and groups of chavvy lads hanging round the equipment thinking they are it..and they charge £27 pm - This place is going to be hell.
  
  I ended up going to Banantynes as it sempt a lot better quality of member and a more enjoyable experience - granted its £42 pm, but highly worth it imho.

  So nice to see a reasonable priced gym! the cheapest we can get where I live is £34 per month and I'm sure thats the average around this area. The nicest gym is around £80 per month!

  Looks great. Too bad it's 10miles away but I've only heard good things about these gyms. I hope it puts an end to other gyms locking you into a 12 month contract :(

  I've used to go to the pure gym in Leeds and at £9.99 a month, I've never had any problems with the people inside. Infact quite a few people are more than helpful. Just because some people are smart with their money or don't have a lot to spent today doesn't mean they are scum (Which is pretty much what you are saying). I'm sure they are glad they don't have your kind in the gym.

  Lets be honest, if you're sensible then H&S isnt an issue......H&S is only for complete numbskulls, people with no common sense, or people who are purposefully looking to claim compensation of a firm.
  
  My only worry about it not being manned would be the safety of the place - i mean, a group of moroninc lads could do a lot of damage with those kinda weights lying around!!
