OP, it was courageous of you to post this overpriced peripheral that is only required because apple courageously removed an output for commercial profiteering reasons. Every licensed device such as this that third part vendors sell, apple gets a cut of. how courageous of them ;)

Hahaha good one OP. Is it me or is this (I'm an iPhone 6S user) the worst iPhone update ever. I genuinely look at the specs of the 7 and think I'd rather keep my 3.5mm jack and physically home button thanks very much! Stereo speakers don't bother me and don't see the point of the faffing around with sockets.

I mean, have Apple realised that in this day and age our phones spend half their time plugged into a powerbank whilst we are walking about, so removing the jack is pointless.

And then Airpods.... They just don't do it for me. Hideously expensive, will fall out my ears and get lost, don't hold their charge for very long....

Apple have screwed this one up I think....????!

iPhone 8 won't have a camera as it's courageous to look at things with your eyes.

I heard it won't have a phone module as talking is so last year as well! Why don't Apple give customers what they want not what they think they should have?

Many will lose them and then repurchase, making apple even more money.

Because having at phone that isn't 0.005mm smaller than last years would be the end of the world....

This isn't the same as all the other times Apple has cut stuff. The headphone port works and is utterly universal. They're now forcing upgraders to buy into proprietary connections under their full control and over which they'll make a small fortune. It opens up DRM issues, charging issues etc. and all for what? So they can fit in a stereo speaker?

Lets call it what it is. A new revenue stream for a company looking at a future of declining market share. And yes, I do have Apple products.

I jumped ship from iPhone a few years ago, haven't looked back. iPhone is like a walled garden, very nice but there is a lot nicer once you look over the wall.

Also wonder how many charge cycles the new stupidly expensive ear pods will have before they don't last long enough to be viable... is this another planned recurring revenue stream?

I've not really paid attention to this issue but am I right in thinking that a new propriety socket will mean headphone makers/ adaptor makers need to pay a royalty to Apple for every new connector plug they sell?

If so, it's a clever way to earn more money from something you previously couldn't plus as you say it's a locked in system of control whereas analogue 3.5mm jacks are totally uncontrollable.

Sadly this is the way Apples is doing things for years and customers seem not to mind much therefore they think they can do everything and still get away with it. I guess if they didn't have the "courage" word it wouldn't be such a big deal as we are now used to accept such actions from Apple. No removable battery, no bt file transfer, no SD card, their own ports, their own standards... and people are still buying their products. Sony was it doing before, but at some point people found out that their products are no longer premium to others and do not deserve to pay more for crazy standards like micro duo stick whatever.

Same thing happened with the floppy drive, and the DVD drive.
I probably use the 3.5mm jack only 3 or 4 times a year now

Never post Apple deals here. Always cold.

iPhone6s with iOS 10 (ok only beta for now) solves the dilemma for me

Really people are so ingrained in hating change that the comments since the iPhone 7 was announced has astounded me. Are people really that stupid that they do not see either a step forward or that they are ignoring the obvious work around that doesn't cost anything?
The new iPhones will come with a Lightning to 3.5mm adapter.
If you want high fidelity music, you don't own an iPhone for music anyway.
The Airpods are an optional extra, you don't have to have them.
Multiple Bluetooth headphones already exist on the market and do a damn good job.
Just because we have had something for 100 years, doesn't mean we should keep using it...except maybe Deek's hip replacements.

Yes I like iPhones as for me the OS just works. However I would make the same comments if any android Manufacturer had the balls to do this first.

Less than 10 years ago every Samsung phone seemed to have different charge cables. Sony changed there's even so often. These normally used a propriety headphone adapter a too.

As for Apple doing this purely for profit, what company doesn't. There are sound design reasons why taking out a 3.5mmjack works. Waterproofing being the most obvious. Various waterproof Sony phones must have all port plugs in place. Now you don't even need one.
While this year it's only an enhanced haptic engine, next year that space, now embraced could free up other benefits. Think how much processing power 50 square mm holds on a CPU. Apple now has the room to put additional gains in, all because they can. Samsung will be desperate to copy this but the narrow mindedness of ingrained consumers will slow that product cycle down.

Since Steve aint on the Jobs ... Apple are going down. This adapter should have a headphone jack on it aswell as lightening port .. I am a big fan of iphone because i like the way they work and the ios .. Bad move from apple on the 7

My Iphone 7 plus is on order....havent used the phono socket for years...wireless speakers...headphones etc. I would far rather have a waterproof phone myself lol

More like Poundland but will only work for a day before malfunctioning.

I don't know what the fuss is about ? I have been using Bluetooth headphones with my iPhone 6 for over a year now , so much easier without wires trailing about.

What relevance are floppy and DVD both of those were replaced by far superior technology standard out of nessecity. Neither of which applies to the removal of the 3.5 jack. It's people like you which allow apple to get away with the things they do.
