If you get 2 years out of this fantastic My whirlpool just went off last week after 12-15 years (might just have been the brushes but it stopped spinning and i could not be bothered to take apart and order brushes so bought a cheapo Beko from Comet for £167 free delivery (but I needed it in hurry so paid £19.95 del charge)

The washer/dryer above will be similar in quality to beko if you can get 2 year min use from it then what a bargain

Thanks - now I know :)

Amazing price, although as others have said, I've read some sloppy reviews - plus parts might not be as readily available as some of the mainstream brands.

the way i view washer dryers etc

if 2 of you or less going to be using it buy a good make

if you have a large family and will be washing all the time buy the cheapest out there
when it breaks replace it

If you have a large family having the washing machine out of action for even one day can be a major PITA.

The only way I can see your strategy would make sense is if you had the space and upfront dosh to buy two cheap machines and when one breaks down you still have a backup.

The other strategy is to buy a higher end brand. We bought an 8KG load Bosch Exxcel, thinking that their supposed reliability would save bother but the outlet pump went at exactly 12 months to the day and then eleven months later.

So, so much for our strategy. The engineer did say though that ours was the only one he had ever replaced a pump on and it was so unusual that the second time Bosch had asked for the pump to be sent back to be inspected. So I guess we have just been unlucky. Needless to say for the first time ever we have bought an extra three year warranty extension.

We had 2 Haier Washers from Comet...Both have failed within 1 month of using each. The first time we only used it once! First the pump went, then the pcb just fried, then the replacement washer set itself on fire! A WASHER! :w00t:

Ended up trading up for a Candy not the best brand but works fine so far...no fires.
My advise... do not buy Haier! VOTED COLD!!!!!

Also...All of the engineers that visited were asked if this is a common fault and if they thought Haier were a good brand, all refused to comment (very professional), nuff said! :?

Never though I'd see anyone saying that!

No wonder Haier washers are crap! They are a Chinese brand!!
Haier is the world’s 4th largest whitegoods manufacturer and one of China’s Top 100 IT Companies.
#18
With 1200 spin speed leaving clothes less than bone-dry, with and pokey little drying capacity, using this on it's drying function is going to cost a fortune :-( However reliable it is, not for someone who actually uses the drier much at all!
#19
Buy one of these and be prepared to spend a lot of time at home waiting for the engineer to turn up!
#20
our dryer broke (cost 3 times this!) and hotpoint wanted £100 just to send a guy to look at it!

it broke within the first 12 months, called in within the 12 months but because we couldnt arrange a mutual weekday date within the first 12 months they then claimed once over 12 months we couldnt prove it hadn't just broken even though they had a record of the call

such a rip off industry!!!

i've had a Haier fridge for about 5 years now, still going strong and been through 3 home moves up and down many stairscases

Whatever the make, Fridges tend to be one of the MOST reliable pieces of domestic kit, while Washer-driers tend to be the number one LEAST reliable, so not necessarily the best recommendation :-(
#23
Haier washing machines have a dreadful reliability track record, I would avoid.

One of the easier cases to prove at the County Court, and get your costs back I would suggest

Not many moving parts in a fridge so not much can go wrong.
I used to work for an UK Electronics Distributer and we decided to set up an office in Shanghai instead of Hong Kong. Big mistake.
Virtually 95% of components received from Shanghai were either refurbs, fakes or pulls.

This isnt resevre and collect. HOME DELIVERY only...extra £5.80 may be worth changing the title!

chinese brand bashing, and your avatar?

I am British born Hong Konger tempoarily living in Hong Kong and I will always avoid Mainland Chinese brands because they are very unreliable. (btw my avatar is Hacken Lee)
Here in HK, popular washing m/c brands are Whirlpool, Philco (Electrolux), Ariston, Miele, Siemens, LG and Hitachi. TBH, I've not come accross Haier in HK.
My washing m/c in the UK is a Bosch which I bought when I moved into my new house over 9 yrs ago and it has been faultless.
#32
Touch wood I have had a Zanussi from Comet for best part of 5 years (end of line from Comet (think it was about £250) and despite washing our family of six day in day out it is still fine.
Wish it had a faster spin speed (1200rpm could be better) but we have had our moneys worth

Remember the extra years warranty if you use your Nationwide CC, you may need it.

Great price, great find heat and rep given

fair enough. it does say 'reserve and collect'
#36
This would be a good price for a washing machine let alone a washer dryer! On appliances I tend to pay the extra for a good brand but washer dryers are more unreliable regardless. Have some heat!

That it does, which you can't (Which is what you said) :sorry

Rubbish Engery Rating.. sorry.. would be better off in the long run with a more efficient one.. but good price anyway.

im moving in less than a month and debating if this is going to be worth it. Think i might have to take the plunge!

Will it come with a guarantee?
