There will be ignorant people on this one. If u want Halal then it's available. If you don't want Halal then don't buy it. Maybe people have a problem that the Muslim diet is being catered for by virtually every supermarket in the country. Too much for some ignorant people to take on.

Isn't all chicken halal???They are hung upside down, stunned and then throats slit to drain the blood, so....doesn't this make all chicken halal????
Possibly biggest con from supermarkets!

It's the ignorant, that don't know about slaughtering techniques based on religious dogma rather than animal welfare, who won't mind buying halal. Knowledgeable people may well have qualms. Supermarkets will sell whatever is in demand.

If you prefer the thought of your chicken dying a horrible, slow and painful death, buy halal. If not, don't.

Halal is to Muslims as Kosher is to the Jewish folks. The rules for halal food are less stringent than the Kashrut laws. BUT the basic laws are hte same. THAT you kill the animal swiftly without scaring him or killing one animal in front of another. The person killing should be experienced and an adult. Give the animal food and water before killing it. Make sure you take the name of the MOST HIGH before killing the animal, recognizing that the animal really is the property of the Almighty Lord and you are taking life with HIS PERMISSION and for food. BE as kind to the animal as possible under the circumstances. Normally the process is so swift that the blood drains out and makes the animal black out and faints. Any movement thereafter is because of the muscles contracting. Halal meat is made in a way to drain away blood which has many diseases and causes diseases in people who eat meat in which blood has not been drained. It is also meat that does not spoil as quickly.

Halal is always cheaper than regular meat, so what's the con exactly?

Good deal

nowadays most 'halal' meat is stunned.

Non stunned halal meat is hmc certified.

Well said royalt. People should not not say things about Islam without looking into it or asking a Muslim because the media always like to portray Muslims as cruel people. Infact it's always the opposite.
#14
also not sure if this is a good deal when the local halal meat shops are selling fresh chicken 3 for £5.50 approx.

All those people that go on about how cruel Halal meat is are ignorant to the fact that battery farms cause more discomfort to the animal whilst they are alive. Those are the same people who then enjoy the meat from that animal. So because it says halal please don't just jump onto the media bandwagon without actually understanding how all foods are manufactured. By the way Well said RoyalT

The real con here is that Halal and Kosher food is controlled by some religeous person/organisation, who charge for their service. Good money-spinner. Wished I'd come up with something like that. :)

Great deal. Very hot. For the people who know nothing about slaughtering methods and science, please do not say nonsense. Halal is the most merciful way to kill an animal. Science proved this and also that it is the healthiest meat because blood is drained from the animal as explained above.

The problem seems to be that there is now little choice but Halal. Personally it doesn't bother me either way but there will be people with genuine reasons for not wanting to eat Halal meat just as there are genuine reasons for those who do want Halal meat. My wife's family own their own Butcher shop and a lot of the meat they buy is now Halal whether they want it or not.

Ignorant people have no idea about the Halal process. If they are told by the anti muslim media that it's cruel they'll follow it like herds. But someone with some intelligence would actually try and find out for themselves before making anti Halal statements.

Western methods of slaughter also drain the blood from the animal. And "science" doesn't take a position on anything. Science is a method, not an organisation. Some scientific studies will say one thing and others may differ. They are still arguing about Newton's theory of gravity as opposed to Einstein's (though most will have made up their minds by now).

So ho exactly does the MOST HIGH give the permission? Shout it from the heavens? give you a phone call? send it on a post card?. religion is BS and causes nothing but problems.

could someone please tell me why my reply regarding hukd member RoyalT's comments has been removed? in no way was it offensive. i am at a loss trying to work it out.

i can't remember word for word what i said, but it went something like this............

RoyalT made a statement inferring that Halal meat was somehow healthier because the animal was drained of blood (bled). i merely pointed out that (in the uk at least) non-Halal animals were also bled at slaughter, and that the animal actually died of blood loss (as in Halal/ritual slaughter. i also stated that meat from any carcasses that hadn't been bled properly (for whatever obscure reason) would most probably be condemned by the meat hygiene services who monitor abbatoirs in the uk

no doubt this comment will also be removed for some unknown reason, but i would like to be informed by whoever mod or superior being why. i take it that i'm not the only one whose comments have been removed.

Whoever said halal meat is always cheaper is quite mistaken.
Also why do so many people say virtually all meat in supermarkets is halal? That must be nonsense as the only halal meat I've ever seen around here in the supermarkets is a tiny shelf or two at a large Tesco. The other dozen or so nearby big name supermarkets have none at all.
Wish people would provide proof rather than jumping on the EDL bandwagon.

My comment was removed as well. I replied to the comment on the Egyptian guy who killed his wife as it was then targeted at all Muslims as ignorant people think if a crime has been committed by a Muslim, it must be part of his religion as the media strongly suggests it. I merely pointed out that all races and religions should not be blamed for a single act by a single person. Anyway, most, yes most butchers will stun the animal before slaughtering it and that is not Halal because not all of the blood is drained out of the animal, no matter if it's strung up. So for it to be genuinely Halal it has to be non stunned, mostly verified and certified by the HMC committee.

People are going off the point as culture and religion are seperate as are individuals. I am just curious what people do when they go to muslim countries for holiday such as Turkey, egypt, dubai etc. Do people stop eating meat during holidays. Its ridiculous.

I don`t like bad weather but sometimes you have just got to accept as there is no option. Meaning we don`t even realy know how the meat has been killed in our local supermarket.:|

halal, there is no choice, all supermarkets except Morrisons supply halal,
