Don't buy it!
Force them to release EP3!

:P

Good ep (my fav of the 2) should give around 3 to 6 hours play time depending on difficulty and your skill.

Got a copy for both my Macs last time around to play deathmatch like in old half life (happy days)...then realised this doesn't include deathmatch! Haven't got around to buying that that yet...think it cost more than the whole game.
#12
bleh good reduction but may as well have reduced all halflife 2 games at once like hitman

Steam should be able to max out most internet connections - so as fast as your internet is, that's how fast you should get it :)

Where is Ep3!

I swear, when Ep3 comes out, it will sell by the millions even if it's sh*te....coz so many people have been waiting for it for so long.

I hope they bundle it with Black Mesa - it will make a worthy "completion" to the whole Half-Life series. The end of an era.

A game spoiled only by the exceedingly small maps.

sounds good to me though i always get lost!

Genuinely one of the greatest games ever made (well, so far). I'm actually very jealous of those who haven't played this - ah, what I'd give to experience it for the first time again.
#24
Got the original and ep 1. Been waiting years for this to appear in the bargain bin. Only prob is I've just bought Civ IV the other day for pennies on steam. Not enough hours in the day!
#25
Anywhere cheaper than the £5.99 on steam for HL2 Episode 1?

Valve - "Instead of taking ages to develop a whole new game, a new entry in the series, we're going to make the move to episodic gaming. Each game in itself may be shorter than a usual game, but it will mean that they are released more often, at shorter intervals, meaning our development teams can constantly be working on new ideas and improvements and the gamer will always be looking forward to the next release date, which will be just on the horizon. The Half-Life universe will continue to grow and evolve at a fluid rate."

Valve's release schedule -
Half-Life 2 - November 2004
Half-Life 2: Episode One - June 2006
Half-Life 2: Episode Two - October 2007
Half-Life 2: Episode Three - ?????

Thanks for nothing Valve. Okay, at least we get Portal 2 in April.

But seriously, this is a great game. Well worth £1.49 for the amount of gameplay it will give you. Be sure you've played HL2 and EP1 first, though, as they do continue straight on from each other. Then be prepared to tear your hair out in frustration as you wait for Episode Three, which Valve appear to have completely forgotten about. We're probably more likely to see Portal 3 first...

Skipping any of it is a tragedy. Did you play Half-Life 2?
#31
so many great and cheap games lately on steam, so little time, hot, hot hot!!
#32
Buy this and play it all the way through.

you'll then be itching for EP3. To satisfy that craving you can spend a few minutes watching this.

Genius fan film based on Half Life

Don't do it! Buy the lot, start from the beginning! I mean even do Half Life 1 which is freaking epic, then HL2, Ep1 then Ep2. You won't regret it. It will play standalone but I'm disowning you if you do that.
#36
this is a prelude to hl3 being annouced soon

I've bought from Steam a few times and never had any hassle. Once it's registered against your steam account, if you change your PC, you can download it again and not have to worry about dvd's. They seem to have quite good bandwidth.

I'd change the options for Steam not to run on startup though.

Really looking forward to ep3. Fantastic series.
