LIKE THE TITLE SAYS

Once again players assume the role of Gordon Freeman, a scientist destined to save the Earth from hordes of gruesome alien attackers. Valve has created a fully realized world in Half-Life 2, with objects and characters that feature accurate physics properties, behaving with the appropriate mass, density, and physical properties of their real-life counterparts. Extremely intelligent computer AI result in enemies that plan, adapt, and respond to the player's actions.

Following on the heels of the similarly-titled next-gen console edition, this package is a near-complete package of the Half-Life 2 phenomenon, packed with bonuses in addition to the genre-expanding original Half-Life 2 game. Half-Life 2: Episode One and Episode Two add-on levels are also on the disc, as are the stunningly complex puzzle game Portal and the online phenomenon Team Fortress 2

Includes:

Half-Life 2

Half-Life 2: Episode One

Half-Life 2: Episode Two (new)

Team Fortress 2 (new)

Portal (new)

Same here, sometimes it can take a bit longer i.e. order on a Friday it doesn't come to Monday but everytime I've ordered something they've been top notch. Ordered at 5pm before and got it next day.

Be aware that, according to several reviews, the PS3 version of this game suffers from severe framerate issues in places, though I don't know if this has been fixed at all in an update... I didn't hear that it has.

Several reviews have said that the framerate issues make it borderline unplayable though the worst affected areas are the most graphically intense, like Half-Life 2 - Ep 2.

It's worth buying this game for Portal alone, which I'd imagine runs fine as it's not very demanding graphically. But if you have a suitable PC, you're probably better off buying it on Steam instead. Also, if you have both a 360 and a PS3, you're better off buying the 360 version.

Got this from lovefilm as a rental on Friday, it went back in the post box this morning.

Cannot see what the fuss is about.

I have played the PS3 version of Orange Box and I can confirm that there are some slow-down issues. However, these DO NOT make the game borderline unplayable, not in the slightest. There are a couple of situations where there are some in-game cut-scenes going on (action happening to the environment you're in) that drop some frame rates, but they're not when you're actually playing (you just stand and watch stuff happening). The only time you do get frame rate slow down when you're playing is in a large room underground flooded with water. I think the light effects on the water must be taxing to process or something.

It certainly does not stop you from enjoying this game at all, even in the slightest. It is some of the best fun to be had on the PS3 right now.

Also, take these 'the 360 version is better than the PS3 version' (or visa versa) comments with a pinch of salt. For some reason, people seem to love to be all partisan about it and fight the corner for the console they have. Madness, if you ask me, but people will use any excuse to put themself in a group and fight another group.

It is the company the ported it who are to blame for any issues there are with the PS3 port. The PS3 is supposed to be the more powerful console, so the 360 version could only run better because the company who ported it didn't spend enough time on the PS3 port.

If you have a 360 and a PS3, buy the 360 version. If you only have a PS3, don't hesitate to buy this game. You won't regret it.

that's what i think of the ps3 demo

Like CraigP said there are some slow down issues (i mainly noticed it on Episode 1) but nothing that makes it unplayable at all.

Is this tolling really allowed here?

I've finished all of the half life parts and the portal game on the PS3 (didn't play Fortress) and there are slight frame rate slowdown issues but they aren't really that noticable. Most of them occur when you have a torch on a large area etc..
This was a brilliant game and I feel that the reviews against it were mostly written by...well you don't need me to point the finger!
Personally I think this game is a bargain at this price.

PS. Be kind as this is my first post.

Half Life 2 is overrated and feels like a dated PC game

Portal will be completed in one sitting.

Team Fortress 2 has two maps and limited appeal.

I paid £22.99 at Shopto a few weeks ago.

Showing it's age, but still a cracking game. I bought this last week and can't see many frame rate issues to write home about.......take the point re feeling like a old PC game.....because it is! Played the PC version about 2/3 years ago and wanted to re-live the trip on the Half Life 2 before I start on Ep 1 & 2.....looking forward to them now. I think some folk are gageing this against recent stuff like Call of Duty 4......I think that's unfair.....differant style of game and more of a classic feel than new age gaming, so don't dismiss just on that. This was the game (and mainly HL1) that paved the way for COD4 and so should be resepected for it.:)

Great deal. Gary_rip doesn't really understand how the cold/hot system works I don't think.

that's what i think of the ps3 demo

What was featured in the PS3 demo though? The Xbox demo was terrible and showed a fractional portion of one of five excellent games. Assuming the demo is the same on the PS3, I wouldn't judge it by the demo.
#24
Another thing I don't like about TF2 is that it feels like you're wearing rollerstakes or permanently on a top of a skateboard the way your character glides around. COD4, Resistance and Warhawk all deserve your time playing death matches.

You shouldn't vote cold because of that.

Factually, the PS3 version is NOT better on the Xbox 360, because the PS3 version isn't available on the Xbox 360.
#26
Its an amazing game, its a shame the PS3 version is **** compared to all the other platforms.
#27
The game is excellent and although there are lagging issues, it really doesn't stop the flow of the game. The online portal is brilliant also. I've noticed the only lag is at the start of scenes etc.

Good find, although I've got a mate that works for EA so I get all my games for less than a tenner lol

Cold makes the temp go down... Hot makes the temp go up.

There is a guide around here somewhere! I can find it for you if you want?
