Hi, My first post.

I decided to purchase a 3 mobile broadband usb modem today.

Went to the store and was told that this weekend (in 3 stores only) all price plans are half price with free modem on 18 month contract. So i got the 3gb allowance, usb modem on 18 month contract for £7.50 a month instead of normal £15 a month. The £7.50 a month is for the full 18 months of the contract

Apparantly this is for existing 3 customers only i think

Im using it now and it seems fine

Hope this is of use for someone

Cheers

Thanks for the post.

damn good deal, even if existing customer limitation applies..

hot!

That's an excellent deal. I took up the £15/3Gb/month tariff for 18 months when it first became available, and the service is very good. I get around 400kbps in 3G areas, and between 1.3 and 1.5Mbps in "Turbo" HSDPA areas.

Heat+rep.

Their service is much much better than it used to be, I can defo recommend it now. I have the 3g broadband and its damn quick in hsdpa areas. I'm tempted to sign up another one at that price.

i just spoke online to a sales rep at 3 and she said they cant do that offer online.
Do these places not want money now?

I agree how "middle ages", you mean I'll have to go and shop with the rif raf! :w00t:
Gonna get another one though at that price.

"3" stores, not 3 stores.

The deal seems good, but depending what tarrif you want (both cost pm & length), doing it online with refer a friend & quidco may be much much better.

not really as an 18 month contract at £15 a month is £270,
minus refer a friend £15 and quidco which is £16 makes it £239

7.50 for 18 months makes it £135

could you show me how doing it online is cheaper, thanks

i think you will find its £30 for refer a friend, "They say you can't put a price on friendship. (Actually you can. £30.) Love your 3 phone? Love your trusted, old friends? Then bring them together and you'll both get a little bonus.£30 credit each to be precise."

You still are better off with this offer as you only save (refer and quidco)
£38 on 12 month on 1GB or 3GB (mobile broadband)
£46 on 18/24 month on 1GB or 3GB (mobile broadband)
£62 on any 7gb package.
The minium off a £10 12 month contract is £60 (12 x £5)
The max off a £25 24 month contract is £300 (24 x £12.50)
But i can not see how you can refer yourself so you may only get £8,£16, or £32 quidco

Many thanks for the orginal poster for this i had been in this week enquiring about costs, i was going for the 3gb @£15 now i can get 7gb for £12.50.

cheers

You cannot refer a friend for the mobile braodband - I spoke with online customer services about this.

Big shame they couldn't do onlie or over the phone - mega hassle going into the shops to sort it out :(
#12
i would have gone for this if it wasn't for existing customers only :(
#13
ok I want this deal - but im not on 3 network - do you have to be a customer ? and also could I not buy a pay as you go sim card , become a customer that way then get this deal ?????
#14
yes funniliy enough i was going to take this out yesterday , spoke on the phone and they didnt even mention any half price deal instore
#15
I think I we be going for this today as a backup for my ADSL connection. I work from home a lot and I'm completly stuff when it goes down, also means I could work from my locak pub ;-). Does anyone know what I need to take with me in terms of ID for them to sign me up?

under normal circumstances you can refer a friend, I refered my brother to mobile broadband and got £30 off my normal 3 phone bill

well this confirms what I already knew, three have the worst customer service.

Yes, having 24 hour, 7 days a week and free customer service with one of the lowest mobile network customer advisor waiting time is bad:p

3 UK is absolutely amazing and so is their mobile broadband. I've been using my 3 mobile as my 3G modem for about a year and the speed is amazing - I could get near broadband speeds in a rural area in Ireland where only super-slow dial-up (slower than the average dial-up) connection was available.

Highly recommended!

Doesn't matter which store, its across the company and its not for this weekend only!

I got one of them yesterday at the 3store in Durham and asked how long the offer was on for, coz my dad wants one and he said at least til end of May.

The offer is for exsisting customers and any one who signs up for a contract. You could just sign up for a 6mths contract for £15 and take this opportunity to get 1/2 price on your modem for life!

To me its perfect. I was online within minutes and I get speeds of around 633mps, which is perfect for brousing.

GREAT DEAL>>>

In addition. Exsisting customers and people who connect on the day can take up the opportunity to get the modem on PAYG with £50 off.

Three now also do 6 month contracts on selected phones. If you take one of these you will become a customer which will allow you to have 50% discount on Mobile Broadband.

So a 6 Month minimum term contract is 6 * £15 = £90

Mobile Broadband is 18 * £5 (Normally 18 * £10 without disount) = £90

So in total for an 18month broadband lite and a 6 month contract with free phone you pay £180

For non existing customer broadband lite would cost £180 anyway (18 * £10).

Just make sure you cancel the 6 month contract after 6 months.

For the people in the know...

I've been flip-flopping between 3 and T-mobile as Tmob has hot spot access included, does anyone have any experience of this from t-mobile before I go with 3..?
#21
Just to be clear: Does "Existing Customers" refer to broadband customers only, or is it applicable if I have a 3 phone contract ?
#22
Could you do the £10pm 1gb allowance for £5pm then?
#23
Great deal

And the post of the month goes to....

I can whole heartedly recommend '3'. I'm sat here in my Hong Kong hotel room using my phone as a modem (don't tell them!) I'm getting turbo speeds here and because '3' have a network out here - NO ROAMING charges! This applies anywhere '3' has a network - Ireland, Australia, HK, etc...
#27
:-D You can even use it to play your Xbox 360 on live, good latency too.
#28
Just bought mine this morning, I will use mainly for business use, so will hopefully earn me far more than £7.50 per month !! Great heads up.
Thanks Deebee

Just been out and got mine. I was just about to sign up for the £15.00 a month deal as well so this has saved me some money. Thank you to the member who found this offer. :-D

Hi guys. Can anybody tell me how this compares to O2's mobile broadband service? Also, How much normal browsing can you do before you hit 3GB limit, and how would one monitor one's usage?
#31
Does the 1/2 price offer apply to 12 month 3MB mobile broadband contract too?
Also can someone confirm that there are no additional charges for using 3's mobile broadband abroad?
#32
I'm on 3g at the moment, and Iuse it every working day, downloading stuff, browsing, vpn, exchange mail etc. I even resynced my entire exchange mail one day 1+gb's worth and I have never hit my limit, most months I do under 1gb. I got 3gb as a safety net, and at £7.5 now its a bargain. As I said before, I'm going to get my second one as my contract expires soon and I can continue at half price.

#34
Does anyone know if this still works if you are an existing pay as you go customer?

3 Like Home means that mobile phone contract holders can roam with the same charges as at home in any of the 4 countries where 3 has a sister network - Austria, Hong Kong, Ireland and Italy.
I don't think it applies to the 3 mobile broadband dongle offer though, just mobile phone contracts.

Thx 4 d clarification m8

Just to clarify - it DOES apply to 3 broadband abroad - a colleague of mine was over in Italy for a few days, used about 1.5gb of transfer and wasn't charged a penny more

EDIT: Confirmed here - http://www.three.co.uk/customer/linkdocument.omp?cid=1190213182220 - be careful which countries you use it in.. some charge £6 per mb :O

They asked me the same thing as well. It is not advertised on the three website or even in the shop.

1) AFAIK O2 is the best value unlimited broadbrand service at present, at £7.50 pm for existing mobile customers.
2) Use 3's data usage calculator for your (estimated) daily/weekly/monthly usage.
