I'm not a big fan of waterstones' sales, it's normally hardback books that are overpriced in the first place.
The #9.43 for The Ghost elsewhere is a bit misleading - if you look at the deal, it's a pre-order for the normal paperback which comes out on Thursday 3 July.

A lot of people seem to think that hardback books are overpriced because they're used to paperbacks costing the same as a magazine, but if you consider how many hours of entertainment you get out of a good book (many times more than the length of a movie, say), a hardback at least isn't destroyed after a read or two and can be kept or passed on... I think each has its place - I buy hardback if I know it's one I'll want to keep, and paperback if I don't mind treating it as disposable.
