Thanks for letting me know! I always avoid listing my items when they have these offers as people tend to sell everthing and crowd up ebay meaning you get less for the item your selling! I listed a few times when they've had half price listing days and my items either don't sell or sell with very few bidders!
I Will make sure my items don't end when 'sales listings' end!
Voted hot - cos you've given me an early warning!

Thanks for the heads up fluffykit :)

cheers for the heads up...

this is just for listing fees ... it would be useful if it was based on seller fees (when item is actually sold).

For this reason i will vote cold ...

eBay never do anything like that Cyrus, which is a shame

Yep, it would be a hot deal if they did that. But saving 5p? Not especially hot for me.

voted cold, a 5p saving here and there is hardly anything to shout about... these half day listing are just a cheap way of them to get more people to put there unwanted stuff on :/

Shame it's auctions only :(

lol i new it was gonna be aload of comments about ebay being theives lol, i know they are but doesnt stop me using them lol i didnt see any mention of it on the community board and i was literally off it a couple hours ago.

Shame that its auctions only as most of my sales a BIN price with best offer.

Although you can start bidding at whatever price which sometimes put off buyers but not the best of deals as their 5p no matter what starting price is the one i like and its hot all the time.

But for this deal id say warm because its not really that big of one although its good

I must admit ebay fees are high but then i have had items that were destined for the loft and ended up on ebay making a couple quid. I dont see it as a money maker anymore but just a place to get rid of things you dont use.

No they are not - they are a service with clearly defined pricing.

If you think they are expensive dont use them.

They do exploit their market position.

Forcing users to use paypal, surely the fees associated with paypal are as bad as credit card charges and could be contested.

Some could argue they are price fixing.

How do they force you to use Paypal ?

Erm, they could. but it would be a really silly pointless argument! How is that price fixing? Having been reading these here pages, it does seem to me that people are SOOOO busy trying to find a bargain, loophole, or quite often a way to stitch up honest well-meaning business, they forget that these companies are in it TO MAKE MONEY! They arent charities, the owners no doubt have families and mortgages, and more importantly so do thier staff etc. If you find a deal, or a loop hole, then great, crack on and make merry. However I REALLY wish people would stop winging about companies that are trying to make money in a sensible, normal, legal way. Ebay is an awsome idea, well executed, and adopted by the entire planet. I have bought and sold LOADS of stuff, and have never minded the fees I have paid. Would I like it for free? Yes, of course, but then the site would be rubbish, no one would be aware of it, it would be unreliable, and my items would remain unsold. And then who would be complaining?!!

Price Fixing?! PAH!

Sorry, no personal attack, just an outpouring of my frustrations!!

Peace Out!
:-D

Oh...and this offer pis**s me off, i was just about to list a load of stuff, but I guess I now have to wait until all the junk has cleared that is being listed on Thursday. ******!

Bravo! Someone with something sensible to say about eBay... and look how many words have been used to back up his opinion. Well done that man.

I don't get why people have such a downer on eBay. Fees could be cheaper I suppose but they aren't so high that it's ever stopped me from selling on there. As an outlet to a worldwide market of potential buyers what else compares? Same thing with PayPal... it's convenient, especially when dealing with other currencies. Some people won't be happy until EVERYTHING is free.

mate been using them for 3 years ive never really had any problems although they did once suspend me as someone reported guy with similar name bidding on my items however his location was DERBY i was DERRY as ebay requested a whole bunch of info from me, but that was years ago, nowdays i got a 699 rating on there.

You made a good point until you included that. :)
#26
My bad just remembered its not a 5p listing day lol just checked invoice and the stuff has been reduced although (rolls eyes) i used gallery for every item and 32 x 15pence = £4.80 i would have only paid £4 otherwise for those 32 listings without gallery, too late now tho :(

Thanks for all the positive comments! And yes, I am sure they have mortages still, even the richest most successful business people borrow money, it just happens to be a lot more than most! Bastar*ds!

bloom ebay must be having fun today they removed an item under VERO this morning and since have sent me 3 more messages saying different reasons why my item was removed, i think someone must of had fun reporting it, prob a competitor seller as there's about 400 of the same item in worse condition listed on ebay and they try to make out you arn't only being targetted
