Yes, do not be surprised when your car does not pass the MOT. However, you will be pleased to know that Nationwide will be more than pleased to repair it (at mega cost).
Avoid, if you have any sense.

i would rather go to my local garage it is full price but i know they are not going to search the ass of my car !!! i know if i take it to these guys they are going to find 101 things wrong with it lol

This is a massive con. Buy shares in Nationwide immediately. They are about to fleece the balls off the country
#7
Hahahahaha I would only use nationwide auto for oil changes and then I`d make sure I watched them do it and mark the old oil filter.... hahahahaha

He has hit the nail on the head, being in the field I can confirm you will have your pants pulled down and they will hold you to ransom :p

Not sure what everyone is going on about here, used this voucher last week and the car PASSED FIRST TIME! Hot from me...

these fast fit co,are well documented on hukd, dont touch them with a barge pole, they have a vested interest in failing your car ,YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! use a mot centre which DOES NOT do repairs for a fair test!,

I agree... its better to take your vehicle to a test alone centre who have no vested interest in failing yours. Also, my experience with Nationwide is less pleasing.

have to agree with the majority of posters, i took my car to one 2 years back and they failed it for the brakes and for a slightly leaking gasket. the brakes had tons left on them and after a i spoke to a couple of other garages they were surprised they failed it for the gasket too.

Don't do it!!!!

Read that thread on MSE and save yourself a lot of hassle.

Scam to get repair work .
#16
Wonder if my 4 year old car with full BMW service history would still fail? How is £27 half price by the way? My local MOT centre is only £35.
#17
I've done this before, and u know what happens? they pick every little detail and make up/persuade you to change something so you either fail the MOT or given warnings so that they get business.

IMHO this should be deleted now. sorry OP but its so not worth the hassle

These muppets managed to forget to tighten the main bolts holding the engine in place on my mk4 golf after replacing the cambelt. Meant the engine dropped two inches on one side causing major damage, and mean the cambelt had to be replaced again.

Thanks Nationwide..... No thanks, thanks thanks

because the full test fee is £54.00, they cant charge more then the maximum test fee, but they can do them for less, for nothing if they want, bit stupid though if they did !
#20
They wanted over £300 quid to fit 2 front springs , I called nationwide and it was less than half that price . Have heard nothing but bad stuff about this crowd. Someone posted this earlier in the week and the replies where all horror stories and warnings . Stay well away .
#21
There is a garage near me that just does MOTs. Charges £25 only.

Never had a problem with them so far.
#22
Might be useful for people on the sussex area.

Used these guys a month or so ago, car failed on tyres but I brought it back within 10 days and they retested for free and passed! Mine was the burgess hill centre but theyve all got a pretty good reputation.
#23
After reading the MSE link - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-mot - I'd say avoid this like the plague.

Go to an MOT only centre, or one of the council centres listed at the above link. Screw any place like this who would have a motive for failing your car!

Please Just Dont Go For This "deal" - We Did It Last Year And The Car Failed Mot - They Charged £200 To Fit A Spring And £135 To Do A Cv Boot And Then Recommended A New Battery At £95 Because It Would Fail Imminently And £65 For A New Exhaust Hanger. I Then Took The Car To Kwik Fit Who Tested The Battery And Found No Fault BUT SAID THE BATTERY WOULD BE £39 FITTED!, And The Exhaust Hanger Was Fine. This Is A Scam To Get More Work At A Mega Inflated Price.

Then Recommended A New Battery At £95

:-( Absolute scammers!

Every industry has its bad apples but mechanics have to have orchards full of them. I don't know all that much about the inner workings of my car and know how easy it would be to take advantage. Rather like I could take advantage of those who come to me with their IT problems, but I tend to want to sleep at night!

I've found Kwik Fit very fit and miss too though!

Got 10 months left on the MOT of my new motor, will be following the MSE advice and booking the next test with an MOT only centre.

for what its worth found this the other day but it was already posted - expired;-)

Agree with other posts. Went there for years on the Tesco clubcard voucher exchange. Failed every year, headlights needed adjusting every year amongst other things. Local garage at £54 full price, sailed through. Never again Nationwide.
