Well Can you Confirm is the satnav to be in working condition or not...? Have you got any picture of the advert...?

If i can trade any sat nav for this price this is hot..If i have to trade-in a working sat nav i will not do that as the phone suffers from very weak gps..and you have to have the internet connection to get the sat nav signals quickly via the assisted gps..

The phone has GPS and free maps, I got it the other day

Most of the new Nokia Symbian's now have this feature, but they do need to have GPS, for instance, the 5230's brother (5530) has Wi-Fi, but not GPS, so the 5530 is not eligible for that offer.

Here is the link to all the supported handsets: http://maps.nokia.com/services-and-apps/ovi-maps/free-downloads?intc=ncomexpserv-fw-ilc-lft-con-na-ncomexpserveu-g0-20-getfreenavigationleft_0x0#/default/

Hi I am thinking to get this phone as well however I am wondering if you got it from very and if it's locked for vodafon? Thank you x

This is a great replacement for a satnav/mp3 player/phone. It also has 3G. Only drawback is the Camera is bog standard at 2mp. with no flash.

The GPS is quite usable, the Ovi Maps software being easily comprable to Tom Tom. You can download free maps for any country (including detailed city maps) via a PC, with the supplied software suite.

Although it is 'true' GPS I found that unless you enabled the A-GPS feature (using the phone network to help triangulate your location) it takes several minutes to get an iniital fix. Once done though, the GPS works like a charm.

So, if you have an old satnav, an old(ish) phone and aint to fussed about it's 'limited' camera then this is a fantastic deal! I would have thought, being supplied by CPW that it would be unlocked as well!

I'd be interested to know if this phone is unlocked to use on any network and also if the SatNav needs to be in working condition?

I have an old SatNav which isn't much good but still works

But my uncle has one which is broken for sure with a cracked screen.

I already have this phone but worth it for this price ... But it's no replacement for a roper Car SatNav - the speaker isn't loud enough to be heard well over the sound of a car engine and wind noise at high speed and unless you have a proper holder for it it's hard to get a great viewing angle for it.

Yes, one thing i've found is that you have to selectively place the mount, if using it as a car sat nav as the screen is pretty useless in bright sunlight.

Some of the retail packs of this phone come with a car mount in the box (not sure about this one) - mine didn't.

I have mine to the right of the steering wheel, using a car-mount I bought for about £5 from Deal Extreme. I think it was described as for the Nokia 5800 (same dimensions). I find I can hear the speaker when its there, and see the screen.

Best part of the GPS functionality though, is being able to use it on foot in unfamiliar places!

I have this phone, pretty decent phone. It could do with wifi but that's the only thing missing really. The sat nav is ok, the maps are way out of date though, it still shows the Colsterworth roundabout on the A1 which hasn't been there for quite a while now. Also the speed cameras seem to be really patchy, it didn't warn me of any S.P.E.C.S cameras on the A52 for example. Should be more map updates coming this year Nokia reckon. Also if you're using it in the car the sat nav drains the battery in 30 mins or so, so u need a car charger, unfortunately I bought a cheap one which makes a poor connection and doesn't work half the time, not the phone's fault. The mount I bought is really good and lets me turn the phone so it works widescreen. I wouldn't use the nokia ovi maps sat nav over my tomtom in its present state.

Thanks for sharing, but how do u take advantage of this offer? Do u need a coupon or state what newspaper it came from? As no mention of this offer in Google or the CPW website.

I'm not surprised it's broken, I don't think they are waterproof :whistling:

Nice phone, haven't used the Ovi Sat Nav that much but been quite impressed with it so far. My only issue is it's a little bulky, but with inbuilt Sat Nav it's to be expected!

Nice deal if you have or can find a cheap second hand navigation system.

I've been using OVI Maps now for a few months and its not initially all that intuitive but once you get it worked out its actually as good or better than Tomtom. I used them both parallel for a week then gained confidence in the OVI Maps and stopped using Tomtom.

PS I travel all over Europe and found it had better upto date routing than Tomtom too.

I used to use a Mio system which took about bloody half an hour to set up for each journey, as it wouldn't retain it's settings, the Ovi system and indeed better quality sat nav's I'm sure must be better. Also doesn't need the tell-tale sucker ring on the windscreen - an invitation for thieves!

Sold the Mio and purchased this phone with the non-contract Tesco sim deal - so much better!

Is this phone unlocked? Surely to make the most of this smartphone you'd want an internet 3G tariff. If you get this phone and then buy a SIM only deal elsewhere you might just as well have got a contract from CW and got the phone thrown in for free anyway. Having said that the cheapest SIM only internet tariff I can find is £10 a month on a 30 day contract with T-Mobile.
#32
Has anyone actually been able to find this deal on the CPW website? I've been scouring the site and can't find any reference to it.

Anybody got a direct link?

Thanks.

I would imagine the deal's instore only if a sat nav's got to be taken in and inspected, but here's the phone on the site anyway.

I'm no expert, but I don't think the phone will be unlocked!

Just taken a look at the T-Mobile sim. I've got the Tesco 30 day contract sim with 500min calls (including mobiles), unlimited texts and unlimited 3G internet (unlimited as in 500Mb fair usage)!

I doubt that CPW would sell the Tesco phone though:-(
#35
Reading on the Nokia website it says that they come with a free in-car holder when buying from CPW.
Also, has anyone tried this yet? Do the only need the SatNav unit itself or do they require all the leads and bits that go with it?
Many thanks

Looking on the CW site you can get the Nokia 5230 instore on PAYG and also pick up a T-Mobile unlimited internet SIM card on a 30 day contract for a tenner a month. Which seems a pretty hard deal to beat for a touch screen 3G phone.

Any ideas what memory card the phone takes?

Nice T-Mobile deal, not sure what the total call and texts are though!

The phone takes a microSDHC Card - max 16GB.

For the missus it will be fine.

Surely the card max is 16GB?
