Is this for new customers / returning customers? Do you have a flyer for this offer and is there any kind of code or reference number we need to quote?

Is it the same as this offer?

No code used. Just the usual blah blah about leaving.

This sounds like a retention offer same deal my parents get every time we try to leave, I remind them all sky afilliates like, resellers etc get 12months half price, they say that's the best they can do, we leave anyways :)

after my last subscription fiasco with sky i am reluctant to do anything by word of mouth with the company.

so from experience - if you are dealing with sky - my advice is that make sure whatever you are commiting to -you get it in WRITING

agree. which is why i clarified the deal atleast three times and took the job ref number and name of the cust rep. btw, do they give you the offer details in writing?

same here Sky offered me 12 month half price tv

just has similar deal from sky, when speaking to customer services I was put on hold till customer service rep put deal through, then instead of speaking to him my call was redirected to another operator who then passed me onto other three people who said they couldn't do offer, give them their due , they did call me right back to same phone call costing me and I was advised the best they could do was for me to put in a complaint to customer services via email or in writing, within 12 hours of emailing they call me, apologosed for the mix up and sealed the deal, I have been with sky more years than I care to mention and they were at the top of me most hated company to make a phone call to due their horrendous customer service call procedures, but I must say I would give them 10/10 for customer services from my last experience , hope its here to stay

I got the 12 months half price deal last February (from this site) - and that included free HD plus installation and HD box for the 12 months, but emailed to cancel 2 weeks ago, and was offered half price rental for 6 months but had to pay for the HD service. I can cancel anytime (31 days notice).

Wish I had waited now - could have done with the half price HD rental!

Does emailing work to cancel with Sky????
Or raising a ticket via the mysky system?
I always thought you had to call to cancel

i call sky to cancel as i wanted multi room in my bedroom and they wanted £149 for a hd box and £59 for instation so i left it and 3 days later i rang canceltions and they put me hold and offered me a free hd box and £29 instation for my bedroom so i got a great deal.ring cancelions and they give you a better deal.
#13
That's what I was offered when I cancelled last month. 6 months half price. I didn't take them up as I also have VirginMedia, now with multiroom.

Got an email from Sky yesterday saying they're missing me and are offering 12 months for half price.

what email address did you use to cancel?

I left last year, the best I was offered to stay was 12mths any package half price, HD Box supplied for £15 and no HD subscription for a year as well as their £5 call package free for a year. A very good deal however I didn't stay, bought a freesat HD box moved my phone to bt through Quidco (£70 cashback) and now pay nothing which is far cheaper long term!! So to me not a hot deal but random luck dependant on the deals available.
#17
Luck of the draw - I have just got an upgrade to HD with free box, free installation and six months free HD subscription but a relative has recently managed free upgrade to HD and multiroom with free installation, 12 months half price subscription for the package.

Also anyone else noticed how they sometimes say 6 months free and other times say 12 months half price when the overall cost is the same?
#18
Also seems to depend on where you are - I cannot receive Virgin or even Freeview so Sky knows I have little choice.
#19
If you're not football crazy ditch Sky and get Freesat instead. Rent or download all the movies you need. You'll miss NOTHING except giving Murdoch your hard-earned cash.
#20
thanks for the post, ive got to ring up sky in the next week to cancel as my subscription ends near the end of march so Il set this as the benchmark. like others I had the 12 months half price package and free hd.

That's what I did. I gave them an opportunity to give me a good deal to stay with them, and they said they couldn't do anything.... the funny comment from the customer advisor was... 'For what you're paying every month (£19), it's not like Sky will miss you'!!!! It was SO funny, I said to the advisor you've shot yourself in the foot there haven't you, and chances are this call's being recorded... he totally agreed, and sh*t it, but still couldn't offer me a good deal.

Then 2 weeks later, I got the 12 month half price letter!!!! Then another 12 months half price letter 3 weeks after that. They're SO thick to understand that when customers are about to leave them, do what you can to keep them, otherwise they probably won't return, like myself, who now has a very good 50Mb broadband/unlimited calls (+ landline)/HD TV deal with Virginmedia - Sky's loss!

Sky are cons on the way they setup peoples account. when i first moved into my flat there wasnt any sky or cable so i decided to get the total package. sky said they'll do this for me. when i accepted then they said they'll fit sky first, then a month later the phone line & broadband 2 weeks after. so i got sky fitted, then waited for phoneline but nothing. i queried this with them & they said i have no phoneline. i tested the bt line that was there & there was a tone. i rang BT & they confirmed this & said they can activate within 48hrs if I go with BT. I rang sky back but they were passing me from pillar to post & non one wanted to sort this out. as its gone over a month i couldnt cancel sky now. so I told them not to bother with the phoneline & i want to cancel when years finished. they told me to call a month before end of contract. So i had to mark this on my calendar. Now I'm out of contract they're begging me to go back with half price offers. oh yeah. I forgot to mention they passed my details to some cold callers who rang every other day. When my wife answers the phone ask for me, but they hang up when I answer. I googled it & alot of sky customers were harrased like this. :(

i ended up getting BT landline & broadband with BE & BE were the best broadband experience ever.

just a heads up for anyone phoning sky. you can use the following freephone number to contact customer services instead of the 0870- "we'll put you on hold for 20 minutes"- number which you pay for

0808 1014437

hope this helps somebody

I would suggest let the notice be there. Call in after a few days saying that you would like to extend the notice. They would need to cancel the notice and then create a new request for cancellation.. which is when they would ask you AGAIN "why do you want to cancel". I went out to blurb out the virgin deal and told them that im moving home so would like to reconsider options after moving. think they must hv put me as a returning cust

How about I give one of you my account number and address details and you phone up for me to negotiate a deal for me.
