Was in the market for a new seat and saw them for £28 at Amazon and £25 (oos) - £40 @ B&Q but Homebase (and Argos) have these fairly Bog-Standard offers. fnar fnar

Loads instock in my local or delivery for the £14.99 one

There is a Plastic Anti-bacterial Soft Close one for £14.99 which I reserved but after viewing, I opted to buy the dearer MDF one @£17.49 which has some sort of plastic shiny coating on & seemed much stronger/sturdier for a chap like me. the plastic one would be fine for most of you lightweights.

There is a Natural Oak one @ Homebase for £19.99, If you prefer a bit of wood, or see Argos as they have a pine one for £14.99

If you get one of these and have more than one loo in your house, I *highly* recommend getting one for each loo, otherwise you'll end up banging the seat down on the one you don't replace time and time again oO

Got one recently from The Range ( their own brand ) for £11.99.

Put up for info only and not voted on this deal.

If you do buy one, before you fit it measure your toilet and check the seat is big enough. I bought one of these when they were on offer a while ago, I got it home and Dad went to fit it and it was way too small for our loo. You could literally fit a hand in the gap between the seat and toilet. I thought our toilet was just a standard size as previous seat was just a standard Homebase one. When I spoke to a guy at Homebase he said that they must come up smaller for some reason. I ended up buying a Laura Ashley one that was in the sale and that fits perfectly.
I am not saying the Homebase ones aren't good, far from it. I just wanted to warn anyone thinking of buying to check the sizes first as you may not be able to return it.

Dont see the point of this, everyone loves the old toilet seat slamming down at 3 in the morning when you're trying to be quiet.

Heat for the toilet monster.

Ive just fitted my two, and they are slightly bigger than the old ones, the screws/fixings are slightly adjustable. I am now wondering if that monster is buyable?

Just went to get the natural oak one from Homebase, the one on display was leaking hydraulic oil out of the hinges, which meant the soft close didn't work so I gave it a miss. :(

The £14.99 plastic one on display was broken in two places, and other dearer ones were chipped, so I guess they use the damaged ones for display instead of trying to flog them. I didnt know there was hydraulic oil in these things? It wasnt brown liquid was it lol.

If it's yellow let it mellow
If it's brown flush it down

If it's brown liquid then maybe a visit to hospital would be in order :)

does it open its mouth when you take a dump?

I think it was the mdf I bought a while back from Homebase, it looks the same in the picture, the part the seat attaches to is plastic and the weight of the seat going up and down all the time ended up snapping the plastic.

the homebase mdf one has shiny chrome hinges, but the rest is plastic
#22
interesting lol

These are very poor quality and just as bad value for money.

Costco do a really good quality soft close toilet seat made by Tavistock for £23.98 inc vat. Very solid and has quick realease buttons on the hinges for cleaning if reqd. Well worth a look, I've been caught out by the cheaper ones but can vouch for the one they sell in Costco.

Bog standard deal

I got these for my new house in 2010 and they are absolute rubbish, one stopped soft closing completely and the other doesn't stay raised. Total waste of money, had to replace all 3 with plastic ones off eBay which were cheaper and much better.

But MDF is wood??

I have bought it. It is a good quality hard plastic seat. Both seat and lid are soft close operated independently from each other. I got additional 15 per cent weekend discount so it was £12.75 .
There are plenty od soft close toilet seats on ebay for around £10 but not with anti-bacterial finish at this price level.
