In my experience if u just get a carpet and take it away it can be a great deal.
But if you want underlay, rods, fitting etc they charge the earth.

£2.50 per m2 fitting charge

they also charge £35 delivery, and the carpet is delivered by the carpet fitters. Just a sneaky way of claiming a reasonable £2.50m2 fitting charge, when really on an average 5m * 4m room the charge is more like £4.25 when you factor in the £35 delivery you have to pay.

And this deal was available last Saturday when we were in there

Cheapest place for gripper rod is Wilko.

cheapest place for gripper rods and underlay is ebay - direct from the manufacturers!

I always find the before discount price for Carpet Right is way over priced when compared to other carpet outlets so by the time the discount is applied the price is at a normal level.

Re the £35 delivery charge......this is a complete rip off....especially if you give them quite a big order. We felt so strongly about not paying the charge that it became a deal breaker and when we nearly walked away the salesperson magically waived the charge. Afterall how can the fitter lay the carpet if they don't bring it with them??
By the way we have used this company on 2 occasions and have been satisfied each time.....remember there is always room for negotiation on price.. if your'e not happy with the final figure walk away plenty of other companies to choose from!

CarpetRight are con merchants. They are like DFS - they always have sales! They inflate their prices and then pretend to reduce them. Best avoid.

plus thay want more money if its getting fitted on stairs , carpet to do my stairs was £135, plus underlay, fitting, and extra charges, delivery was just under £400, so what i did was buy the carpet, got the underlay from tool station, and the rods from ebay and payed afitter £60 to lay it,and it all worked out around £270.

Carpet Right always have this type of sale. I bought carpet from them 11 years ago and it was a sale that was due to finish by the end of the week. It is still on.

Try getting an itemised breakdown when they come and measure.
It won't happen, believe me this is how they make a (huge) profit.

Carpet Prices are pretty OK for carpets, but underlay grippers and door things they charge the earth for. We got ripped off by C.R for 2 rooms but not for the others. The carpet fitters they use are independent as well. So I've bought all my underlay (Clould9 Nimbus) from ebay and the grippers. Bought remnant of 4mx5m. Total Cost about £177 then £40 for fitting. Same thing probably be about £300 or even £350.
Been happy with carpet fitter so I've used him a few times now.
