Just back from The Comet Clearance Centre in Glasgow where I found the above to be half price. Just got an amazing deal on a brand new but cosmetically blemished Miele w1514 washing Machine for £289.00. Hoping I can get Miele to give me the extended 5 yr guarantee.

May not be much use to people not neat a clearance centre, but def. worth a trip if you need any of the items listed.

Do You Trust Clearance Comet? - Surprising How Most Items Seem Bidded Up On Line. Many Items Not As Described And I Have Been In Contact With Trading Standards As I Am Sure Have Many Others. Beware This Retailer- You Have Been Warned!

The difference with the deal that I got is that I actually bought it in the Comet Clearance Store. There is one in glasgow and sometimes it is fab. I bought my American Fridge freezer 5 years ago from there at half price and it is still going strong. I have also bought a computer, printer and now my washing machine. The printer broke down within the warranty period and I ended up getting a full refund. I was also given the option of choosing any of the printers that they had in store at half price.

The benefit of the store is that you can actually see what you are getting, my washing machine is clearly brand new as it still has the pipes etc, in all the packaging with the cardboard on the back.

Yup if you turn in behind the old bingo hall and then follow the road at the back of the bingo hall all the way round you get to the shop

To be honest these are all pretty poor deals with the currents sales on. Sony 32 LCDs are going for £350 and side by side fridge freezers are going for £420 elsewhere so the deals at this place are poor. Voted cold.

i got an LG washing machine from there last year, saved about 50% on the retail and it came with full manufacturers warranty. machine was brand new and came with all pipes etc
had a problem with it breaking down within the first 6 months but it was all covered under the warranty and was probably our fault due to us overloading the machine rather than the machines fault

I wouldn't buy a thing from them online. Only way to be sure and happy of what you are getting is to go up and look for yourself. Some stuff IS good value, other stuff is just over priced junk.

Don't bother with the online auctions. They get bought and then re-surface on ebay! And you can't really tell how good or bad the condition of the item is.

However in-store I have been both amazed and dissapointed.

Sometimes the prices are rubbish. Other times, the prices are quite simply amazing. We bought our LG American Fridge freezer about 15months ago. List price (and these things at the time were not getting discounted) it was £599, we got it for £299. What was wrong? A blemish, only really noticeable in daylight on the bottom right of the door. That was it. Had never been used and still had all the blue sticky tags inside.

I also wanted to get a Miele dishwasher, but the prices were rubbish. List price, minus 10%. I asked the store manager about this and he said that periodically they will do 50% off to get rid of excesses of stock, all the rest of the time it is usually 10 or 20%, which for items that have sometimes been returned used is definately worth it (HUKD'ers know they can get 10->20% off on most things without needing to take second hand).

If you are in Glasgow, take a look.

Damn, I feel so dirty for supporting the poster in letting this little secret out!

Sorry !!!! However once you get what you want from it - its nice to pass it along !!! Def agree with your comments though. The 50% off stuff is a genuine bargain the other stuff is forgettable in the main. They do however change the 50% off range on a regular basis - although I think every time I go in the American Style Fridge Freezers appear to be 50% discounted. I suppose it makes sense seeing as how much space they take up on a showroom floor.
