Yes it would be better if it was 5 litres.

That said most cars wont need the full amount that is specified as there is always some left in the engine that doesn't come out and it's even worse if you have an oil cooler as loads gets left in there,I know at least half a litre gets left in my engine and oil cooler when doing a change.

Best oil deal atm. HOT

Noticed this last night and ordered 2 bottles. Perfect for an inexpensive oil change in our runabout car and for top ups. In terms of 4l or 5l it doesn't make a difference - some cars take less and some more. Of the 2 cars I have one takes 2.8l and the other 5.8!
#7
Anyone know anything about the quality of this oil/who manufactures it?
#8
if you look at the spec sheet it says comma which is decent
#9
Strange they make oil specifically for 4L engines, it's a bit of a niche product.
#10
If you go to your local motor factors there's will be a better brand for a few quid more plus majority of company do five litres
#11
Can get this delivered with prime for £7.89 if it interest anyone.

Mate, if you really believe that then you should not be maintaining your own car. Trust me, take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
#15
the reason it's only 4 litres is that this deal is intended for top up only.

Never read so much nonsense on a thread - some of the comments are just ridiculous, except for "Mate, if you really believe that then you should not be maintaining your own car. Trust me, take it to someone who knows what they are doing" - spot on mate.

4 litres only for a top up ?
No, its called "marketing".
Raise the price, or drop your product from 5 (or 4.5) litres to 4, knowing 99% of the public wont notice, and even better - they will need to buy 2 to do an average oil change - bit of a no brainer.

Castrol Magnatec - 4 litres
Catrol GTX - 4 litres
Mobil 1 - 4 litres

See a pattern forming from the "big guns"?

Carlube and a few others still do 5 litres to be fair.
If you need 4 litres for a top up, your car has serious issues......

Great find ordered thank u!

Great find OP. We used to buy on this deal (and stock up with a years worth) until we found that eurocarparts sell 25l drums of a fairly decent oil for approx £50.
We have 2 large cars and service them ourselves, as well as a tractor which takes just about anything so the drums do us better than having loads of little ones.

I dont have the info to hand right now and we dont have any atm either but a call to your local store should see you right. :)

Heat added.

I do know what I am doing and I do know what I am talking about.

I notice you just say I shouldn't be maintaining my own car but don't actually say what part of my comment is wrong and why ?

I have been maintaining my own cars for years and have not had any issues because of what I have done.
I currently drive an evo x running 400bhp and maintain that myself where I can.because of this I can comment from From experience about oil left in the system with an oil cooler.

He started his message "mate", it almost certainly means he's clueless and isn't clever enough to realise why.

Bikes with wet clutch need bike oil.

Knowing halfords, it's most likely secondhand oil.

Which car would that be for? The fully synthetic triple x is suitable for most high performance cars.

I have just under a litre left from the last oil change, so this will be fine for my upcoming service, thanx mazola ;) (+heat)
#29
Their radio ad for this deal says "for top-ups only"
#30
Well the oil capacity on our 1.1 206 is only 3.2 litres so maybe this would suffice on some smaller engines for an oil change, plus enough for a top up! Or if you just happen to have a car that's oil thirsty and want to save a few quid then this might suit some just for regular top ups.
#31
my seat Ibiza only has a 2.5l sump changed the oil almost a year ago and I've still got a bit of my 4l bottle left after sticking a few hundred mils more in from time to time as the oil get used up.

obviously if you drive a Chelsea tractor you'll need 10 bottles but this is alright for small 1.2 engines with little sumps. cheap as ****

plus all these people saying you need to know what your doing how hard is it to find a bolt and undo it?
#32
Comma make oil for Halfords, Comma use " reclaimed oil "

You could say yes its 2nd hand oil , but it goes through a rigorous recovery process and all additives added !!

You maybe ok with your 600 @ around 100bhp , put it in a super sports 120bhp upwards and you will get clutch slippage I have seen it happen, car oil has friction modifiers,
#37
the additives in car oil contaminate a bike clutch. never noticed it on a cheap bandit i had a few years ago though
#38
bargain

Got 2 lots of 4 litres of 5w40 for £24. None on display, got one bottle...then saw 2 litres to fill engine at £19...so got 8 litres for £24. You will need to ask staff as it looks like they are only for those who've seen it on the app or website from how it seems.

Have used car oil in my bikes never had clutch slip Yamaha YZF 750 and GSXR 750
Have read about friction additives causing problems , but good quality car is normally much cheaper thought would risk it
