very good deal but cant get to the link of it

glad we're not quoting the disproportionately higher prices from halfords.ie
#4
Never mind about the previous highr prices, this is a very good deal.

Heat added.

Well it doesn't mention ball bearing slides so I'd imagine they are friction instead.
Still a pretty good price

Great deal reserved one for collection so saved on the delivery as well

Seems a bit small to me,

I noticed this comment:-

"Pros: build quality
Cons: size

"luckely i reserved this thinking it is the same size as the older model. but it is not!
it is quite tiny! so i went to my other local halfords and bought the old one. this is perfect!"

lol, I have just looked at the sizes - how ridiculous !!

Agree with previous comments, this is a dinky toy!

Dad has one of the older ones and for the money its very good

This is a very long way from a snap-on quality. But the price is an absolute fraction.
I have one and an additional argos top box.
I wouldn't agree it is 'dinky'. Just right for several sets of sockets and spanners etc. The drawers are not very deep which restricts what tools can be stored.
The drawers have additional slides 'friction' i.e. steel on steel -- but that is far better than just drawers with no slides.
The top lid has only one stay and there are no drawer liners. The argos top box is the same make with slightly better fittings.
At first the drawers are really appalling, stiff and jerky. However grease spray along the slides and inside the slides helps and once the paint has worn off where they touch the action is actually quite good.
These are not for the pro who would use the drawers hundreds of times daily, but for the weekend mechanic they are an excellent quality/price compromise.
FOR THE PRICE this actually a great deal - especially if your local branch has one and you don't have to pay the £15 postage. There is no delivery to branch to collect.:x
Note the pics additionally shows the Argos 9 drawer top box in the middle. this now £70 alone http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7017395.htm making the £49.99 even better IMHO.
note the slightly better build of the argos version (better handles and more hinges/stay - not shown

Even without the additional box it is not dinky....

there is no way yours is anywhere near as small as the one posted here - check out the dimensions on halfords site 24.6" W x 12.00" D x 40.5" H with castors

also glad to see I am not the only one who doesn't put his tools away in the toolbox lol

thanks ianshona for putting up the link:thumbsup:

This is the same one - I just got it.
I stressed that in the photo the middle 'top' box is not part of the £49.99 halfords kit. :)

Just to be sure I've just gone and measured it. The bottom cabinet is 28" high (inc castors) and the top one 12.5". Makes 40.5 inches I think..

Tesco.com did almost the exact same tool chest in blue about a year ago. I bought it and was a little surprised at it's small size when it turned up. It is not like the ones you've seen your local mechanic wheel about but about half that size if not smaller.

Still handy for power tools kept in the shed though as you can lock a metal bar across the front of it with a padlock.

Only the top drawers lock, so cold from me

Ball bearings - ball bag, if you can't pull ordinary draws open you shouldn't be using spanners. It's a man thing.

Its only a hobbie set, what do you expect :whistling:

Mostly this week I'd be expecting HEAT! Jessies diet....

Can the Halfords Trade Card be used when purchasing? If so, any idea of the discount on this item?

Many thanks.

There is a metal bar that slots in place and is locked by the key to stop you opening the 2 bottom draws and the 'up and over' bottom section :)

There must be more than one design to the bottom section that they are selling for £49.99 as the one in my local does not have the 'doors'
