HALFORDS BIKE TIP

hi guys just a tip for you if you buy a cheap bike somewhere. Usually i take the bike to halfords and get them to build it up for me - halfords stores seem to vary in how much they will charge you so worth calling different stores - but one local store seems to have come up with a bright idea. basically pay them £19.99 which gives you 3 years warranty on the bike (or 9.99 for one year ) and this means you only pay for parts and halfords pays for the labour on the bike. However my store class's buiding the bike for you as labour and so you only pay £19.99 and they will build the bike and you get 3 years warranty where you only pay for parts - a cracking deal. I have the bike warranty and use it all the time.

im not sure if all stores will allow you to do this as i think really you should have to pay to get the bike built and then get warranty for it (doesn't have to be a halfords bike) but my store is allowing you to just pay for the warranty and they build the bike up free - hope this makes sense!

I just find Halfords expensive for parts and built bikes... much prefer chainreaction or wiggle... You know, at wiggle you can get bike lights for under £600... seriously! What a bargain! - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/175097/supernova-xenon-p99-d-dual-beam-fro

I'd not pay the monkeys at Halfords to build a bike, in fact I've just bought one there and I'm paying a bike store to build it for me instead.

I don't think that's fair - some Halfords have excellent, knowledgeable staff... You may have poor staff locally but mine are good and I do use Halfords in an emergency. I just find them expensive compared to the internet cycle shops...

wouldn'tt trust the cowboys at halfords..its like kwilfit for bikes!!....bought a kids bike a year ago..had a tick list saying what was checked e.g tyres, frame etc. it had all been initalied by the guy setting it up..when i got home ntoiced the tryres were about 20psi too low i.e FLAT..

wish i'd have been bothered to complain as the checklist had all been signed by the halfords guy...

I with the majority! Halfords are terrible for bikes! I went into one shop and asked for a "tripple butted, reverse threaded, wingnut for a quick release system on a mountain bike wheel". The shop staff took 20 minutes to tell me they didn't have any in stock but could order me one in direct from their supplier! LOL

They must have some supplier!!:roll::roll::roll:
