Cheap just for the tent, but with all the extra's that you get, 4 sleeping bags, 2 double airbeds, and 2 camping lights, this is a bargain!!!

.

uumm, with a 1500mm hydrostatic head, probably not.
Don't expect too much from the tent but it will do most people for a 'good weather' weekend in the UK

As a whole package for the odd family night under canvas it's a bargain !!!

we bought it when it was £100 - it all comes packaged in a wheelie bad with extendable handle. Good value although heavy

If you are thinking of getting this.......don't.

We bought it at 90GBPas did my sister, took them camping last weekend and got some rain on the Monday, our tent leaked through multiple seams, and my sisters didn't appear to have been waterproofed at all on one side.

The tents were pegged correctly and no part of the inner tents were touching the outer sides of the tent.

In addition, of the 4 airbeds we had between us, 3 of them went flat within 24 hours of inflation and the lanterns are in fact only abount 5 inches tall!

Read the feedback on the halfords site, the variation in quality on these tents is awful. Plus, it looks like Halfords don't want to hear about complaints on this item.

We will be asking for a refund when we get back home

Sorry to hear that, it's that sort of experience that puts people off camping full stop.:oops:

Hopefully this will make people a bit wary, at this time of year you can get excellent £200 tents for less than £100 so they would be the better deal in the long run.

Don't suppose you could point me in the direction of one? I've always used my parents canvas family tent (one of those big orange and blue ones) that we used to go on family holidays during the 70's, it's looking a bit tatty now though and I wouldn't mind replacing it with something of equivalent quality.

Have a read for general ideas here
An excellent site is Ukcampsite here
or maybe here

You're obviously looking at getting a bargain, after august is a great time for doing that at the main big shops ie Tesco, Argos etc etc. The more specialist camping shops tend to offer better offers after xmas when they need room for the 2009 models (normally just colour changes).

Gelert, Coleman, Vango, Lichfield etc etc etc

Tents have come on a long way since the canvas with thick aluminium poles (nothing really wrong with them), nearly all have fibre glass rods and are igloo style for under 8 man.

Just watch out for the Hydrostatic figure (how water resistant the material is), i'd look for nothing less than 3000mm !!!!, which could be one reason why the 1500mm halfords model wasn't up to the job !!!!.
3000mm will do you fine in the UK

We've a Vango Diablo 600, (6 man) but is great for the four of us (ie look for three man sleeping areas for comfortable room for two of you), it takes nearly an hour to fully pitch, peg out & sort all the gear out etc etc and is therefore a tent for a long weekend but better for a weeks holiday. Just bought a Gelert Twister 5 which is one of the largest 'pop-up' tents you can get and it's fab for weekend camping, it is pegged out in literally 5 minutes, 15 to put away and is fabulous for just chucking in the car and going !!!!! got it for £69 from £150 (with a staff discount although it can be got for arounfd £100) at Woolies see here
and we're really impressed with it although it is a one room tent but is over 5m x 3.5m in size and weighs on 8kg !!!!

S'alright, I realised I was being lazy, I've found a Vango for £90 (rrp £130) which fits the bill nicely.

You won't go far wrong with Vango and they offer good customer service a lifetime guarantees on a lot of components

Enjoy

Probably avoid, separate groundsheet and, again, a 1200mm hydrostatic head probably isn't enough for a bad british weekend, stick to a named brand (see post above) and 3000mm as a rule of thumb .............
or buy it and pick a dry weekend
