Less than half price. Still could do better at lower price.

Remember that dont include moving parts. So sockets arnt going to fail... very rare. The ratchet itself will probably fail at some point, but if it does say in 2 years you wont be covered for a replacement.

yep my ratchet failed the other month, to be fair it failed after breaking some suspension bolt joints using a 4-5ft extension bar: Though a Halfords ratchet, that I remember my Mum paying for some time way back in the 1980's, still works after decades of far worse abuse ;:) The sockets are top notch, I would highly recommend Halfords Professional stuff.

As mentioned the Halfords Pro range are top quality items. I have them in my tool cabinet for work
for 10 years without any problems

haha.. thought it was a laptop after a quick glance at the photo!!

As mentioned these are smaller type ratchet and socket fitting not more common 1/2" size BUT still voted hot 8) we have had a few Halfords tools at work where we usually wreck tools over time, but Halfords stuff has lasted well

The real world price of this socket set is never £39.99. It's actually been reduced many times over the last few years so the £39.99 is intentionally over-inflated to try and con everyone into thinking that they're getting one hell of a bargain come sale time. The same applies to their ratchet spanners although they are much better quality than that socket set. I do own both btw but the socket set has been replaced by a very nice Bahco set.

The halfords ratchet set are the best spanners I own.
This socket set however is always 14.99 usually. Trade price is just under that as well.
It was 14.99 until christmas. so even at 18.99 a bit more than it usually is. It used to be £15 10 years ago, then they put it up to this silly price and constantly reduce it, as they did most of their tools. Poor policy IMO

I bought one when it was £14.99 :D

I have the aldi ratchet spanners set and Im very happy with these. Have done some jobs in awkward places on my old VW bus that would have taken me ages with a normal spanner.

I'm pretty sure the Pro range is not lifetime warranty. Halfords have been quite sneaky with this. Their top range used to be called "professional" and were made by snap-on, sykes-pickavant or britool. However, their new topline range is "advanced professional", not sure if the quality is still there. Basically, the "professional" range is just run of the mill draper type quality, but more than adequate for diying.
Please correct me if I'm wrong with this.

Seems good but there are some sizes on there that will rarely be used. With delivery works out slightly dearer per spanner than the Halfords kit.

It doesn't matter anyway.
The warranty is a waste of time, as already been stated, it doesn't cover any moving parts.
Never snapped a spanner in my life. As long as you use the correct tool for undoing things
( breaker bar) you will never have an issue. Any issues I have had with any Halfords tools have always seen them replaced anyway. Never had to argue the point either, just stated the tool failed and they replaced it anyway, even though technically they didn't have to. As far as ratchets go, the repair kits are very cheap and do the job.

They all used to be made by Draper, IIRC and the advanced Pro stuff is every bit as good, if not better. Not sure who makes them now
The tool boxes definitely are better than ever though. BTW nothing wrong with Draper, good honest tools. I have used halfords stuff for trade use, and it stood the test better than most other brands I own, including snap on.
