Market closes at 12:30pm today.

Share dealing? What could possibly go wrong?
#3
Purchases only?
#4
Quidco or TCB?
#5
Real time purchases only. Selling fees still apply as per usual everywhere, save £11.95 and the end of the day if you're looking to buy.

No quidco or any cash back schemes, apart from Stamp Duty, which works in the opposite way. :)

prefer to spreadbet. No commission, no fees, no tax, tighter spreads. They make their money by skimming on the price but the benefits make it way better than messing about with bucket shop brokers
#13
I got into forex recently and it's a minefield, unbelievably addictive and potentially disasterous or a gold mine, roll the dice...........

Do you spreadbet forex?

No just shares. But you can spreadbet forex. I use Spreadex and ETX capital but there are loads of them. Spreadex is my main one and they took us to the United v valencia game the other week for the match and 5 course a la carte meal. Marvelous :)

Game on, I got accounts with intertrader and worldspreads only doing forex, trouble is it seems 2 steps forward then 2 back, can't seem to gain any consistent profits.

I prefer to stick with shares. I stick with 3 or 4 big stocks and buy and sell them on the ups and downs which they always do. Make small amounts reguler and let it build up. I only ever use max 50% more than my cash level but often keep the trades on my cash level so I can hold if I have mistimed it.

sticking with the big stocks does allow the mistimed buys as you wait for it to come back.

Sounds interesting, funnily enough I seem to make more on demo accounts with the FTSE and WallStreet R but have never done it live, might have to have a rethink.....

CNR - Condor Resources. South American gold mining company. They are sitting on a LOT of gold, currently getting the figures converted to announce to the market. Sitting just under 10p - easily a 20-25p bet within the next few months. Steady increases awaiting the big news (the news only applies to 1 of their gold concessions. They have 3. Big things coming!)

Read their board over on LSE.

Just sold a load of MARL (Mariana Resources Ltd.) as needed the cash, worth keeping an eye on. Doubled my money in a year, just in time for chrimbo (car insurance, tax and the laser eye surgery I might do).

Looking to buy back in soon as they are getting good mineral (gold and silver) results in South America.

Sorry for giving you and everyone else a heads up.

Id explain in further detail, but am sure it would be a waste of time as you know the ins and outs of Halifax's promotion anyway.

It saved me £23.90. Cheers to the Op

Np, glad it helped. Halifax are pretty rubbish when it comes to informing their share dealing customers of offers. Usually send mails out on the morning or wait for you to login before you know anything.

EOG Europa Oil & Gas are an E&P with quite large potential in 2011.

Profitable production revenue to under pin the share price and some good exploration licences being drilled in the next 12 months and only has a Market cap of about 16m

RSA - Royal and sun allianse for a good long term hold. yield around 7% on them and should be safe. They sailed through the credit crunch with a share price that moved little.
#35
Would they not have increased the buying price (Spread) to compensate for no fee?
#36
No. It all comes down to relationships with the marketmakers and their automated systems. From experience the Halifax and their ilk are crap. In my ISA I use a "proper" broker who charge more commission but save you much more on achieving far better prices
