----------------------

Halo 3 is a first-person shooter video game developed by Bungie exclusively for the Xbox 360. The game is the third title in the Halo series and concludes the story arc that began in Halo: Combat Evolved and continued in Halo 2.[7] The game was released on September 25, 2007 in Australia, Brazil, India, New Zealand, North America, and Singapore;[4] September 26, 2007 in Europe; and September 27, 2007 in Japan. On the day before its official release, 4.2 million units of Halo 3 were in retail outlets.[8]

Halo 3's story centers on the interstellar war between 26th century humanity, led by the United Nations Space Command, and a collection of alien races known as the Covenant. The player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced supersoldier, as he wages war in defense of humanity, assisted by human Marines as well as an allied alien race called Elites, which is led by the Arbiter. The game features vehicles, weapons, and gameplay not present in previous titles of the series, as well as the addition of saved gameplay films, file sharing, and the Forge map editor; a utility which allows the player to perform modifications to multiplayer levels.

#2

#3
I will see if my local branch has any tomorrow :)
#4
got it for £8 in blockbuster not £12! still cheapest new tho.
#5
If you don't already own a copy (Where have you been?..lol) then go and buy one right now. A great price for an absolute classic.
#6
i sold mine a few months back to a mate so i've been wanting to pick it up for collection purposes, £10 is a steal.
#7
I paid £12.99 from blockbuster. The game seems a bit pants after playing Gears of War. But I will give it a chance.

Pees on GOW in multiplayer (IMO)

Microsoft Dropped the price of halo 3 last week to £19.99. Obvisouly no retailers sell it at that price ,but it means the shops will drop there prices soon aswell.
#10
Voted cold. The price listed is only for part of the game.

You have to buy the rest DLC once you get it home.

Don't bother.

???? what are you on ????

is the disc provided only PART of the game?

because if it contains all the levels, then i wouldnt class it as part of the game, its the full game. which is what youre paying for. its the CHEAPEST where ever you go, and im pretty sure everyone else ARE NOT selling all the downloadable content with this game, for a tenner. i mean, not all games have DLC sold with them...

like the SF4 i just bought from asda for 27.99 had nothing but the game and booklet..

so stop making silly votes on what is otherwise a good deal if you want to add the game to your collection!

the OP made no reference to DLC anyway so you should have gathered this before commenting.

however, if the disc being sold only has some levels, and the rest of the single player campaign has to be downloaded and paid for (impossible) then i retract my statement

What a stupid thing to say!
you cant by the game with the map packs anywhere so this is the cheapest!
+ 2 of the map packs are free now anyway!

lmao how dumb are you??? ALL games these days have some form of DLC that you have to pay for, should you diss all games for that reason?

i bought Halo 3 at launch and thought i definately got my £40s worth out of it, it was a great great game ... addon content just extends that experience and adds longevity to the game ... and like the previous poster says, most of that stuff is free now.

(and the map packs are not essential to get the full Halo 3 experience)

[FONT="Lucida Console"]Are you one of the people that paid 800 MSP for the maps on release then complained when they were free a few months later?

These maps were made after Halo 3 had shipped therefore extra effort was put into creating these maps.

You make it sound like you have to buy the maps, it's called DLC for a reason. If these maps were on the disc in the first place or were withheld from the final build then you'd have a point.

Take a few moments to read this article on (P)DLC:

When I first looked at this I thought Sony fanboy trolling because Halo 3 is a very good game (although not a patch on the first 2 for single player campaigns its far far too short)

However, you do have a bit of a point because DLC has become the norm now. In the early days of XBox Live EA used to have the content on the disc and it would be 'unlocked' by a microtransaction so you were in effect paying for a full disc but only part of the game.

The problem with DLC is that the public have accepted it as the norm now and people are willing to buy it thats why they do it.

And for the record not all DLC is bad or costs money. Burnout Paradise is a perfect example of this, its an entirely different experience as a game if you have all the DLC compared to the retail copy.

As for this deal, its ok nothing that special because Halo 3 will probably be already in the collection of every 360 owner already. I suppose people who are new to the 360 will benefit but there are far better games out there for the money.

none in the large one in birmingham, anyone local to leamington know if any has them in?
#19
PC World price match? £8?
#20
Hot... Will take a look in my local asda tonight
#21
£20 in my Asda last night
#22
I can see some peoples frustration with DLC as there is never an option on FPS games to enter map rotations that dont contain the DLC maps generally..So you happily popping some ruskies with your thompson etc when up comes the next map and you get booted back to the menu for not having the DLC.

Resident Evil 5 may be causing a riot with DLC, They never finished the Multiplayer online modes they intended ie team deathmatch etc and its planned for a DLC. If they do charge remains to be seen however.

Anyway back to the game Halo 3 for a tenner is a bargain.
#23
Normally when retail get that kind of signage in you'd assume it would be a standard price for all stores as a sort-of promotional deal, did you guys who saw it for £20 not ask at the till what price did it go through at??? Maybe they didn't get around to putting it down in price.

I no what you are saying but its not really the point, this is the cheapest price for the game anywere atm so the deal is hot.
You cant buy the game with the dlc already on it so doesnt make sence to vote cold on that basis.

I meen, take COD4, if you could get the standard edition for £x amount or the game of the year edition (which has dlc maps already on it) for same price or £1 or £2 more then the price of the standard edition wouldnt be a good deal.

I am not a fan of FPS games, I get a headache everytime I have tried one. I am more into RPG games. But if you can play Halo 3 in a third person view then it might not be too bad.

Can anybody tell me if you can play HALO 3 in a third person view? If so how does it compare this with the 3rd person view of Fallout 3?

At this price I am a bit tempted to get this classic. Is it really worth it just for the story in the single player mode (I don't have XBOX Live :?)

I second that

Was just in store at Chandler's Ford and it was £20 on the shelf, didn't request a price check though.

I've yet to see an obvious ps3 fanboy trolling, honestly.

Well argued tho quoted purely for being a Reuben fan ;-)

Superb price for a solid game. Online is great fun, particularly with a mate and a bottle of Whisky.

Just picked up one from Asda Boldon and definitely only £10 and marked on shelf also. They had about five or six empty cases on the shelf but not sure if this is indicative of how many they've got!

Off to get a pasting online now!

This deal is only for part of the game - only for that part which Microsoft/Bungie chooses to let you play.

Read the back of your Halo 3 box. It states that Microsoft/Bungie has the right to withdraw any game modes they see fit and you have no entitlements beyond the single-player game. Fact is, Team Doubles and other parts of the game used to be playable but were taken out when the new maps were released. Bascially, Microsoft/Bungie are gouging their customers.

Fair point, but you don't necessarily 'get' those MP elements - they could be taken away without warning and that's why I think it's a bad deal.
