Sweet. Just cancelled my hut order and re ordered on Zavvi. Think this will be the cheapest new game of the year. I still have it on order with Game as well to ensure I get it on day of release. Which every copy I get last will be going back to a game store for a full refund. Heat added.

argos wasn't a misprice then!!

Offer excludes Electronics and Computing.

Did OP actually go through the checkout sucessfully applying the discount or did they just presume it would work because there is 10% off this weekend? Maybe you could use it earlier then the cottoned on and removed from electronics and computing.

This deal is good for those that want to get the game as cheap as possible, but not good if you want the game on day of release & the Sgt. Johnson Pre-order exclusive.

Can't get either code to work on anything on their site. Says it's already been applied but no sign of it.

I seem to have all sorts of problems with The Hut group codes on their sites. Had a voucher for extra clubcard points on Tesco Entertainment (run by The Hut), used it, accepted by the site and applied to the order - once the items were shipped all sign of the voucher disappeared and now I'm told by their CS that not only do they have no record of me using the voucher, they can't even confirm the voucher existed in the first place.

I've tried to buy on the LOVEFiLM Shop in the past only to be told there are 3 months waiting lists (!) for some of their items.

Pre-order your copy of Halo 3: ODST from select participating retailers listed below and you’ll receive a token to unlock Sgt. Johnson for use in the all new cooperative mode, Firefight. If your regional retailer is not on the list, please contact them directly to determine whether or not they are participating in the per-order bonus offer.
Participating Retailers:
U.S.: Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, and Wal-Mart
France: GAME, FNAC, JV&Co, Virgin, Amazon, Pixmania, Cdiscount, Rue du Commerce
Germany: Amazon and Gamestop
Italy: Gamestop
UK: Game, Gamestation, Amazon, Play
Australia: EB Games
New Zealand: EB Games

Presumably the codes are in the case though, in which case they are probably put in there during manufacture and are just put in the first batch of games they deliver to ALL retailers though.
I have no idea how it works but this seems the only logical way doesn't it?

If I remember correctly the Halo3 beta that came with Crackdown wasn't a key at all. It just required you to have the Crackdown disk in to download and play it. I assume this works the same way as one of the reasons for this will be to reduce the preowned availability of the game in order to maximise revenue.

Yeah its pretty much the same for the Reach beta you will need the ODST disc for it.

Thats ok :)
Seeing as some have trouble with the % off codes for £29.96 you can get it with SGT Johnson unlock at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Halo-3-ODST-Xbox-360/dp/B001KBYU0Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1250360107&sr=8-1. I'm not sure about if they send early or on time, never preordered anything online before.

This is gonna be the best game since "Halo: Combat Evolved" invented the FPS.
#25
Halo didn't invent the FPS far from it as there was FPS games on the PC way before it like Doom and Wolfenstein.
It revolutionized certain things for the console FPS genre but Goldeneye and Perfect Dark truely set the standard.
Anyway back on topic good deal plus you get the Halo 3 mappacks included.
#26
isnt this a bit expensive for a little expansion with a few more maps added????

the graphics are identical to halo 3.......which wasnt much of an improvement from halo 2 anyway......

"argos wasn't a misprice then!!"
yes, because its not a massive game with an RRP of £39.99............its a STANDALONE EXPANSION.....dont expect much from it......zero in terms of technical development.
#27
Yes it's built on the same engine as Halo 3, that doesn't mean there can be no technical improvements, the halo 3 engine is a new engine and because of this the developers didn't know exactly what they could squeeze out of it when they made halo 3, now they understand it's full capabilities and can use them.
Think of the unreal engine, many games have been built on that, yet they have all improved on each other.

Wasn't it microsoft who said its not (what a shock)?

"We do not view this as a $60 title," Joe Staten, of developer Bungie, noted shortly after the revelation of Halo 3: ODST. Bungie's Paul Bertone then described the single-player portion of the stand-alone prequel as "a three to five-hour expansion pack."

Last week, however, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox 360 shooter will in fact sell for $60--with a $100 collector's bundle packing an exclusive ODST-themed wireless Xbox 360 controller--when it launches on September 22.

Explaining the higher-than-expected cost of the game, Microsoft told Joystiq:

At the time of those statements, the overall scope of Halo 3: ODST was not yet finalized, and since then the project has grown increasingly more ambitious. We believe this standalone experience is much more than just an expansion. Halo 3: ODST provides a new campaign from the point of view of an entirely new character. Combine that with three new multiplayer maps, the entirely new cooperative mode called Firefight, and the complete Halo 3 multiplayer collection on a standalone disc, we feel this is a good value and tremendous addition to the Halo franchise.
