Halo 3: ODST returns players to familiar ground on a vital, top-secret mission. The gripping story, cooperative campaign and new multiplayer content will have Halo fans "Preparing to Drop" in Fall 2009. Originally titled Halo 3: Recon, the new game brings the perspective of new characters to the Human-Covenant struggle, as it explores the ODST, or Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

ODSTs: Follow the story of the legendary ODSTs or Orbital Drop Shock Troopers as they drop into the ruined city of New Mombasa, looking for clues behind the Covenant's catastrophic attack on the city.
A new hero: Prepare to drop. Known for their courage, valor and at times, insanity, Orbital Drop Shock Troopers are among the fiercest UNSC soldiers, priding themselves on being the first unit deployed into hostile situations. While not as large or supernaturally gifted as their Spartan comrades, these Hell Jumpers more than compensate with their ferocious attitudes and unwavering nerve.
Multiplayer: All the traditional features of Halo 3 multiplayer will be included in the new game, including full-featured integration with the Forge map editor.
More to come: More information about Halo 3: ODST and the ODST characters will be made available in the near future, so stay tuned!

Great price :D
I got this earlier in the week on Zavvi's 2 for £25 deal. However, when I ordered it, it was out of stock. Now it's in stock, but it still hasn't dispatched, and says it might not be til the 25th May... anyone know if this is just them covering their own backsides or if this is a realistic dispatch date? Surely if it's in stock now they can just send it...

If anyone's considering buying this just for the Halo Reach Beta, they might want to reconsider.
The beta's due to end 19th May.

Agreed, the beta sucks.

If you have Halo 3 already, then you arent missing much in the beta, its exactly the same in every way bar changing a few weapon appearences.

This is an excellent price for those looking to enjoy the game and grab the Halo 3 MP disc. However, I agree that the Reach beta offers nothing new to the experience minus slightly better visuals and jetpacks. The game still feels like it is stuck in 2007. Heat added though as it is a very good price for what you are getting

Exactly the same huh? I'm guessing you haven't played it, or maybe got hit by the launch day lag and decided to judge it solely on that?

Hmm, i didnt know that and just spent ages getting used to new controls. If i had known that i woulden't have bothered adjusting. Thanks for the info.

As for the game a lot of people say it isn't too good but i enjoyed the single player as short as it is (3 days is maybe 6-9 hours total for a mediocre console player) but you do get every halo 3 MP map and all the map packs from the store included so i guess it is good value.

Great price. Better capmaign than Halo 3 and you get some maps to the greatest online multiplayer. And a plus is you g et to try out the Beta. Good find heat added

The beta is absolutely nothing like Halo 3: MP.

I emailed them and got a lovely copy/paste reply without them reading my question...

For your records, your original query was:

Now the item is back in stock (Halo ODST) can you please dispatch the order ASAP. I presume the dispatch date estimate of the 25th is now incorrect. Thanks.

One of our customer services advisors has reviewed your query and we are able to confirm the following:

Hi Mr xxxxxxx

Thank you for your email,

I am sorry that you have not received your order.

Your order is expected to be sent to you on 25.05.2010

Once the item has been sent you will receive an e-mail confirming this. In the event of any delays we will keep you updated on the status of your order via email.

Delivery usually takes 3-5 working days from our warehouse in the Channel Islands.

We allow up to 10 working days for delivery before being able to trace lost items.

You can check the status of your order via your account details.

Halo 3.

ODST is really just an expansion pack for Halo 3.

Actually ODST is probably the best way if you're just looking for multiplayer since it comes with the full Halo 3 Multiplayer disc including all the DLC and you can play the Reach beta if you buy it now and Reach and Halo 3 are very different.

Unfortunately Reach actually plays more like Modern Warfare in many ways than it does Halo 3. ODST single player is absolute toss though.

But he said nothing about Multiplayer.

He said he wants to start playing Halo, which I would say means he'd like to get into the story etc. And the Halo 3 story/single player campaign is literally about ten times better and more relevant than ODST.

Plus it still has all the same multiplayer stuff. Sure it may need a map pack, but you can still get Halo 3 plus the map pack for about the same cost as ODST anyway. And as this is from Zavvi, the Reach Beta will just about be closed by the time it gets delivered anyway.

Finally, you can also get Halo 3 for just £5. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/672278/halo-3-xbox-360-4-98-pre-owned-at-g

Yep, fair enough, I can't argue with any of that.

Simple really I suppose, if you want multiplayer mainly then get ODST, if you want a good SP campaign then get Halo 3.

Or spend just under £18 and get both which can't be a bad deal really.

I definately concur that the ODST SP campaign is an absolute turd. It's one of the few SP games I've actually not even bothered to complete. Infact, the last one apart from this that I didn't complete was the original 360 Sonic.

...And that was because it was so buggy, it was pretty much impossible.

If it's single player you're wanting to play then I'd recommend starting with Halo 1 and 2 first which can run on the 360 and then Halo 3 as firing straight into Halo 3 is not going to make any sense. I was disappointed with the ODST single player campaign, it's very short, confusing if you don't do it in the right order (which isn't obvious) and mainly pretty dull.

Whether he has played it or not, Halo is the biggest pile of overhyped garbage ever!

Why do people even play it? the graphics are poor, even when halo 3 1st came out, it was terrible, ( although clever lighting made it look ok ) and the gameplay is just... well pants, everyone online just bounces around like it was a kangaroo impressions party.

And the main character is just retarded, i mean c'mon.... master chief is just laughable... makes me lol hard, and if the storyline were in a film, it would be the worst sci fi film plot ever made.

Dreadful.......

Will now await Halo Fanboy posts.

I'm finding Invasion unbalanced as well, it's very difficult for the Elites to get the core out of its initial room if a couple of the Spartan team know what they're doing. I've seen some decent well organised Elite teams who can get through the objectives quickly against a sloppy Spartan team but getting the core out of that room is still tricky - the Spartans can pick up the rocket launcher and sniper near by plus by that point the loadouts give the Spartans the shotgun. There's plenty of positions to hide up the top and ambush the Elites and the vehicles can't be brought in. After a couple of deaths there will usually be some energy swords for the Spartans to nick as well.

I wouldn't quite go that far, but I agree that Halo isn't really as special as many people believe. I would echo all your points except not that harshly.

I played 1 and 2 on the old Xbox and didn't really like the smoothness of how the character runs about. The game didn't seem gritty enough for me. I enjoyed Gears Of War on the 360 a lot though.
I might pick up Halo 3 though in Game for a fiver at the weekend and give it a go. It got excellent reviews.
