Halo 3: ODST returns players to familiar ground on a vital, top-secret mission. The gripping story, cooperative campaign and new multiplayer content will have Halo fans "Preparing to Drop" in Fall 2009. Originally titled Halo 3: Recon, the new game brings the perspective of new characters to the Human-Covenant struggle, as it explores the ODST, or Orbital Drop Shock Troopers.

* ODSTs: Follow the story of the legendary ODSTs or Orbital Drop Shock Troopers as they drop into the ruined city of New Mombasa, looking for clues behind the Covenant's catastrophic attack on the city.
* A new hero: Prepare to drop. Known for their courage, valor and at times, insanity, Orbital Drop Shock Troopers are among the fiercest UNSC soldiers, priding themselves on being the first unit deployed into hostile situations. While not as large or supernaturally gifted as their Spartan comrades, these Hell Jumpers more than compensate with their ferocious attitudes and unwavering nerve.
* Multiplayer: All the traditional features of Halo 3 multiplayer will be included in the new game, including full-featured integration with the Forge map editor.
* More to come: More information about Halo 3: ODST and the ODST characters will be made available in the near future, so stay tuned!

This should also come with the Halo Reach beta that goes live in May.
#2
Is the Reach beta code based or is it just disc activated like Crackdown/H3 beta was?

It's on the disc
#4
Is this as tedious and repetative as Halo 3 in one player?

Far, far worse. :)

It doesn't even feel like a Halo game in all honesty, more like a crap hybrid between Mass Effect and Quake 4.

Thanks, rep left.

I have the HK version and it didn't come with a code so I just wondered. That happens sometimes unfortunately as my ME2 didn't have a Cerberus code in it since that offer was only for North America and Western Europe so I ended up having to buy Cerberus from Live.

For split screen multiplayer is this any good?

Compared to Halo 3 multiplayer is this any good?

As far as I can tell it is the exact same multiplayer game as H3 just with some new maps. This was initially going to be an add-on pack for H3 but they decided in the end to make it a stand alone game (probably to get more money for it!). It includes all of the H3 multiplayer maps plus some new ones.

Indeed. I would only spend like £10 on this game as it is severely disappointing. The beta is disc activated. however for those who play online shooters, this does include all the available DLC for halo 3....HOWEVER I think it does not include the recent dlc. Pretty sure, even if I don't keep up with online gaming.

It IS Halo 3.

It comes on 2 discs, single player and multiplayer. The multiplayer disc just has all of the Halo 3 maps on it and the console reads it as Halo 3.

Handy if you want to get all the achievements though.
Ive just started working my way through the single player, its not fantastic, but its not terrible.

I didnt buy this because to me Halo 3 was the biggest con in the history of videogames. I loved Halo and Halo 2 but part 3 was a complete joke of a game in single player.

If you want to make an MMOFPS then do so but dont make it in the guise of a single player game the way Halo 3 was. 6hrs play isnt enough by a long shot.

I would only pick this up if it was a fiver because there are a hundred games out there more deserving of my hard earned.

The online ODST horde mode is on disc 1 though I think.

It includes the last pack of DLC, it was exclusive to ODST for a couple of months before being released on the Marketplace.

Was gunna go for it in terms of Single player and that Horde Mode. Dont really care for Halo Maps and the beta would be played like once after i laughed at it. Poor Old Halo

I love multiplayer Halo 3, I haven't played it for ages though.

There's an innocence and quaintness about the idiots who mouth off on there compared with the likes of MW2.
#16
i still play halo 3 looks like all the idiots who mouth off have shifted to mw 2. REACH is gonna be epic come FALL 2010
#17
Yeah I find it a lot more fun than MW2 as well, MW2 can get a bit stressful where as not many people seem to take Halo 3 quite so seriously, although there are always a few obviously.

Agreed. Halo MP also allows for some truly epic and funny moments

eg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDXk07ek7-g

All you get in Cod is perhaps a good knife kill? Boring after a while

If the Reach beta unlock is on the disk, does that mean you can buy it pre-owned and still get access to the Reach beta?
#20
I need to get back on Halo I think especially since my mate will be returning my copy of ODST tonight.

If anybody fancies a game sometime then my tag is TomBigBee. Please just say that you're from here in the friend request. :)

Yes it does because that's what I did with Crackdown and this works in the same way.

Actually I just remembered that Firefight has no matchmaking, that's why Ive never played it on Live.

Thanks. Are the extra maps available in Halo 3 DLC also?

We only play split screen multi player - just want to know if its worth getting this?

Yes mate, they all are but it would probably end up costing you more if you bought them from Live than it would just to buy this.
