cheers for this info mate - it might get someone a deal , must be instore - is that the normal or steelbook copy there i cant tell. and is it pre-owned?

also does anyone know the diff between this game and halo 3 , please?

I would hope it was pre-owned at 12.98! ( I bought it new for 19.99 from shopto, think that's still available). Good luck finding one too, I wouldn't imagine they're hanging around at that price.

Halo Wars is a real time strategy game based upon the Halo Universe. So it doesn't play like Halo 3 at all. RTS games are really difficult to make for consoles, and this game received quite mixed reviews. It's not as sophisticated as a decent PC RTS, but it's good generally.

Speaking of Halo 3, I bought the Halo 3 Limited Edition for £19.99 from HMV instore the other day. I was pretty chuffed, think it was an amazing find. Probably the only one in the UK though! ;-)

No, you can play it on yer own (like me)

There is an option for online play though but that ain't for me

If you look up screenshots of the game online it'll give you a pretty good idea of what the gameplay is like. You control lots of units from a top down camera view, select them, click where you want them to go, click where you want them to attack. That sort of thing. Very very different to Halo.

It's not a bad game, but RTS games never work on the consoles. Very simple. A little too easy. And really very short. I think I finished it in about 5 hours. And it never really challenged me.

I'd say this price is a very fair price for how much fun you get out of it.

'Real Time Strategy' just means everything happens in "real time", i.e. you and your opponents are doing things simultaneously and so doing things quickly is a factor in how successful you are (as well as the choices you make). This is in comparison to a 'Turn Based Strategy', where one player performs their move (the amount one can do in a single move will be restricted in some way, but not by time), then passes the chair onto the next player who does the same, and so on in a big loop.

For example, Command and Conquer is an RTS and Civilisation is a TBS; even though in essence they're similar they play very differently.
