A good price for such a large capacity oven and with a 3 year warranty to boot makes this a cracking deal.
Anyone who has used a halogen oven will know what a versatile quick and healthy way to cook it is.....saves money on normal oven running costs too!
Just in time as my old one "died" last week!!

They're using a quote from HUKD as a testimonial which seems a bit weird to me.

Anyhoo, what's the chances of cooking up a pizza in one of those things?
#3
Pizza's cook sweet, like everything else i got Nu Oven, so be getting one of these too. Hot

12L capacity isn't that great for an oven. Maybe for a halogen it's a decent size, but by the time you put anything on that rack, the capacity will be HUGELY reduced.

you need to buy the extender rings, which turn it into a 16 ltr version

With the free extender ring included this oven has the capacity for a large chicken/small turkey/generous beef joint plus roasties.
If you're in the habit of cooking half a sheep in one go, then this isn't for you!
It's ideal for normal portions and you don't want to waste electricity on your main oven. These things cook far quicker too!

I like the way the Aldi product description quotes HUKD like it was an authortive source! oO
On your bike Which magazine!! X)

My friend uses this at work due to lack of cooking facilities here. It, is, AWESOME.
#11
Use one of these and you wont use any Cooker oven again, Great price heat added.

hi can it be used to reheat food like in a normal microwave?
#13
Having used several of these they are just as good as an oven, if not better. Most of the food contains the moisture better (I find pizza's are nicer dried out though! the only item they do not cook aswell)

Not clear if it has a hinged lid, looks like it lifts of instead which is the downside with this as the lid is slightly heavy and the source of heat and balancing it on the stand they give you is hard.

Good product though and good price
#14
Me like my chicken evenly cooked so Heat added will go for this Thanks !! does anyone know if LIDL will be selling as well ?
#15
Do you think the 3 year warranty would cover the halogen element should it go pop?:|
#16
never knew these things existed but seems like a good product. How is this for consuming energy? We dont have a microwave nor a toaster so use the oven/grill combo for all our cooking. Will look into this to see if we can make use of it.
#17
Does anyone know what make this is please

It'll be a "badged" unknown make probably Delta which is a name Aldi use frequently.
Their 3 year warranty is usually excellent with no quibbles and a full money-back if they cannot fix/replace it!

Me thinks irrelevant, prob all come from same factory in China.

Cooking streaky bacon in one at the mo, yum.

What kind of bulbs do these things use? I've got loads of GU10 halogens knocking about after i replaced them all with LED ones. What wattage are these things as well, as i'm sure they are supposed to be loads cheaper than standard ovens etc?

Just wondering what i'd cook in it, need to try and find a website etc for ideas or things that can be done it to see if its worth a punt 8)
#22
Its states it come with the extender lid? So has it got one of these then:

I can't see anything like this in the picture that shows the accessories on the Aldi website oO

Never heard of these but after having a read online they sound brilliant, thanks OP.

found this one on Amazon at 50% off though, seems like it may be worth the extra £10 for all the extras you get?

And then there's the additional £7.95 for postage so not that good really

I'm sceptical about these, despite reading the positive reviews of halogen ovens on Amazon. I noticed Aldi offer a 60 day money back guarantee - presumably you'd have to take the item back perfectly clean and therefore unused? It's easy to take back a dvd player after you've had a go with it and still claim it's never been used - not so easy for a cooker!

Halogen ovens are very good but make sure it includes stand for lid and extender ring as you will soon be buying them if not available as standard IMO. Also budget for a good halogen cook book if one not inlcuded.

Got one from Costco with all ancillaries last year for same price and very good. Bought a separate book as this is essential until you get the hang of it IMO.
#27
I have one and rarely now use the oven, cooks faster as takes less time to heat up, might be worth noting that there are no cooking trays with this which would be an additional purchase. Still well worth the money though i may pop along for another one, are they instore now or do i have to wait until sunday ?
#28
if this is one of those mini ovens then they only last about a year, gone through a few of them

The design looks exactly the same as my old Visicook and that came with a lid stand so my guess it will have the same accessories....just hope it lasts longer.
I, too, bought that at Costco and it failed with 3 weeks left on the warranty, so I had my money refunded.
#30
They'll be instore Sunday.
#31
I have had one of these for over a year, love it. Not used the oven since.

It's also no good for cooking Piza (The base does not crisp up, stays soggy) But reaheating 1/4 of a Piza is great.

I would buy another instantly if this died on me.

The 3 year warranty on this is great, as you can't replace it if it blows, you have to bin the lot, seems an awful waste. They use an almost circular, with a fan,

Cleaning the lid can be a bit of a pain.
#32
The 3 year warranty will be crucial on one of these.I've read of so many going faulty in just over 12 months.
Very tempted to get one.Heat added.

Not atm but Lidl and Aldi tend to have similar items on offer just a few weeks apart.
Wouldn't be at all surprised to see one appear in Lidl in 1-4 weeks.

I bought the Robert Dyas 17l comes with all tools extender ring etc. etc + 2 year warranty. The shop price matched their web site at the time being £10 cheaper. Beats nmy AGA at cooking chicken, bacon sausages etc. Standard chicken cooks in 70 mins from chilled beats the bbq too. When cooking chicken you can see the juices contained and runnung around the carcass under the skin. Unit is self cleansing too.
#35
I got one of these from sainsburys last year as main oven door seal had gone, and have to say use it pretty much every day. I've cooked basics from cheese on toast to roast chicken and pots, and is much quicker and doesn't dry food out.

This is a good website for anyone with a halogen oven: http://www.halogenovenrecipes.co.uk/recipes-archive
#36
How does the self cleaning feature actually work? (and indeed, does it work?)
banned#37
Pour a litre or so of warm water plus fairy liquid - turn to high for 20 mins and the convector fans swirls the water whilst the halogen boils it. Presto when finished pour water out and wipe clean. It works ok. When top plate has cooled wipe the rim around the halogen and bingo.

Good job its got a three year warranty then ;)
#39
Is the bowl detachable and dishwasher safe, or is it permanently fixed to the plastic legs?
#40
Yes the bowl is detachable, it is just a heavy glass bowl. It would take up a lot of space in a dishwasher but once in a while would be worth putting through. I use my oven most days. Good for small families. Great for baked potatoes, bacon, grilling absolutely anything. My recommendation is to try and find a large silicone round cake tin that will fit in the bottom of the oven. It saves so much on the washing up.
