I've always meant to get myself a Manfrotto but never got around to it so when I saw this post I couldn't resist reserving one.

Anyway collected earlier and just got around to opening it now.

Looks rather nice out of the box but... its simply too lightweight. Its OK until the third (bottom) leg is extended. This is extremely willowy and the tripod moves around like a sapling. I really wouldn't even bother trying it with a camcorder.

Voted hot but really it's not.

Our one broke, it came from the 7day shop, not sure what kind it was but it was only about a tenner.

Is this one really that bad., its not me that uses it, I just have to buy the stuff

Tripods are a trade-off weight versus stability and this is too light to be stable. Mine's going back. If it were OK I'd somehow get around the fact its short for me, but extended its pretty useless. The leg actually started to slide back into the sheath of the higher one when I pushed at it - fairly lightly.

If you were never to extend the third part of the leg then it'd be OK but you'd have to be a dwarf for that to be possible.

I recall eBuyer have some cheap ones available? HTH
