This leather faced swivel chair has gas lift and fixed lumber support with an adjustable seat. The chair can also be moved forward and backwards.

Saw this in my local Tesco, reduced to clear from £34.97. Not as good a deal as when they were available for £11.50 online, but thought it worth posting anyway.

Currently £30 online.

'Go To Deal' won't work cos it's in store only - just selected Tesco.com as the merchant as it seemed like the closest fit!

There have been loads of deals for this type of chair recently. What is going on? I suspect more and more people have laptops and no longer need a desk and office-type chair. We got rid of our desk and I tried to sell our high back leather chair (ex cond) - absolutely no interest whatsoever. There must be warehouses full of them all over the country!

Points taken. Useful to read comments when voted cold - will help to avoid similar mistakes in future!

Worth checking viking direct, especially their berlin chairs. had one for about 3 months, still feels padded and comfortable. wish i bought one more when there 17.99 price was still on

I'd take Staples and Tesco to task that their £20 chair is "perfect for the small or home office". All of these cheap chairs are only rated for Casual use, which means less than 3 hours a day. Mainly because there are no squab/lumbar/tilt/armrest adjustments to meet HSE requirements for computer use. That's also why they get called "Managers'" chairs - you're not expected to be permanently sat in it. Plus, they don't last, often being made of MDF/hardboard instead of real wood - so they'll be in landfill in 12 months' time. If you want something for work and extended use look for "operator" chairs which are rated for medium/extended use (5-8 hours +). You owe it to your back to do so.

I went and got my father one of these for father's day.

At £59.90 it's 3 times the price of the cheaper chairs but I'm hoping that the quality of the material would be better therefore lasts longer.

I once bought a similar chair to the Tesco one from Argos for about £50 and it didn't last long as the cushion lost its padding quite quickly plus the gas strut started leaking lubrication oil on the carpet too. :x

I've got one of them Ikea ones. Had it a year and one of the wheel struts has broken off, meaning it just falls over now. Annoying

Sitting in one now. Got it for £17 or £22 or so with a free delivery £10 credit sim a while back (so effectively £7-£12). Nothing wrong with it. Use it for several hours a day (after work and weekends). I also have the mid-back, 2 of them, 1 is still boxed but I'm happy with the other which I've been using for 3 months now. The mid-back isn't quite as good a build quality as the hi-back was at the time. I've also ordered a Berlin from Viking (£23 or so recently), but i'm treating my mum to that for her birthday. The berlin looks identical to the hi-back but with chrome/silver wheels and base and a slightly different padding. These comments are so critical. Gah, some people just don't know their chairs ;o)
Voting hot as still a good deal on a decent office chair, even though slightly more expensive than i bought it for.

Anyone know the name of this part:

The big part where the wheels go into. Does anyone know where i can get that piece for a good price?
