Gone for this ,thanks.

Did buy a tv stand on Tesco sale for £24 now i know why it was reduced , its horrid and im going to give it away or dump it lol

Some specs i saw on "digico" said this could hold 42 inch TV.

I bought another "hamilex" stand from SVP which was super quality.

Like the dark wood colour on this - should keep "oak-loving" wife happy.

Got a bit confused with entering paypal voucher - needs to be done on empire direct bit before entering paypal checkout - then £6 off at end

Caution though - had a problem with empire direct order for another TV stand - said in stock and ordered but told many days later that not going to be in stock ever.

Have a look here and enlarge the picture... it might help a bit!

or here http://www.glasstvstands.co.uk/tv-stand78.html

Photo ain't much bigger but has dimensions which might be useful. I went to local Empire Direct store to have a look before ordering, seems to be a quality item and I'd say the wood is 'wenge' colour.

some people are saying 40 and some saying 42 can this handle 42 or not?!

It can handle a 42" Plasma/LCD just fine

It says 80kg load. If your TV is <= 80Kg then it can handle it. If it is more it technically can't (but probably can). I can't see how screen size has any bearing on it?

Thanks OP this is exactly what I needed and exactly when I needed it!

Yup correct , i fitted a 37" on a unit that was suppose to be for a 32" before and had no trouble , its really the weight and if it can handle it , but looking at this i cant see no problem.
Also down to length as long as the stand can fit which it should with no problem.

Received mine this weekend.

The quality is amazing. Can't go wrong for ~£80.

The colour is a very very very dark brown (sorry not very good at describing colours), certainly not mahogany, when I first saw it I thought it was black.

It will easily take a 40" TV, and at a push could even get away with the 46" toshiba xf355 (107cm wide). This is what I plan to get when i eventually upgrade my 32" LCD.

One thing I was hesitant about was the shelf heights, as it states the bottom shelf has a height of 18cm. With many AV receivers and media center cases being 17cm high this would have been a bit tight. I was pleased to discover that there are 3 positions for the middle shelf, on the highest, the shelf is 24cm high which should allow plenty of room for most amps.

Hi , thanks for the feedback , still not had mine yet but im in no rush.

You put my mind at ease regarding colour and quailty im going to use it to put my 42" pioneer plasma on.

Sounds like it was a good buy , surprised they still have stock of this , still a good buy even without paypal discount as this as now expired.

I assume you got it built then? Should have been fairly easy as the instructions were next to useless anyway.
From memory.....
Screw the long pins into the metal squares on the bottom of the top shelf.
Place the sides so that they drop onto the pins. You may need to check that the ferrules in the holes haven't turned slightly blocking the pins - use a finger or large screw driver.
Screw the little conical screws into the holes on the sides to lock them in place.
User the larger screws to attach the bottom shelf support frame to the bottom of the side pieces. There is a small chamfer at the ends of the support - this goes to the bottom.
Place the black rear pieces on the back of the unit and carefully screw into place. It is all pre drilled so it should be obvious.
Turn the unit the right way up
Place the knurled shelf support screws in the sides at the required height and place the other shelf support frame on top so that the cutaways in the frame drop into the knurled screws.
Place the clear rubbery stickers on the tops of the 2 frames at equal spacing and then plave the glass shelves on top with the glossy side facing upwards.

I know this is probably way to late but you never know! This is one of the best made peices of flat-pack furniture I've ever seen. An absolute pleasure to put together and top quality.
