Possibly the first UK 28" full-HD LCD TV, and at a great price!... it's a looker too!

Hannspree are known in the PC world for their monitors, which typically are mid-range but offer great value for money. Companies like Dabs re-brand them as "Dabs Value" products.

very very good price for a proper HD TV.

Paid £200 for a 24" VA TFT, this is also a good price!

I was always weary of Hannspree, thought they were some cheap nobody's but recently in Singapore and they are huge, then the icing on the cake, they have a store just off Rodeo Drive.

The RRP of this set is £279.99.

Misco know about this and have promised to reduce it to this price presently. So you might want to hold off buying it for a few days.

I'm not a big fan of Hannspree screens, we have had a lot returned faulty at the company I work for.

It's a good price for full HD but I would personally only buy it somewhere I could return it as Misco only offer a direct with manufacturer warranty.

One of the comments on your "linky" says "it uses a TN based panel, poor viewing angles aren't exactly a desirable trait for a TV"

You are entitled to a 1 year warranty from whoever you purchase an item from, retailers will often pressure you to return to the manufacturer but you can refuse. A purchase is a contract and one of the terms of a purchase in the uk is that an item should be free from manufacturer defects for a period of 1 year.

Note : this is not technically full 1080p HD

A true 1080p LCD TV has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a true widescreen screen ratio of 16:9

This screen 1s 1920 x 1200 pixels so you get a somewhayt distorted 16:10 screen ratio – so not quite perfect for widescreen viewing.

Just worth noting, but good price nevertheless

To be 1080p HD it must have a resolution of at least 1920x1080 pixels. Which it does, and be HDCP compliant which it is.
As with 1080i and 720p they must be at least 1080 lines horizontal and 720 lines vertical respectively. But most LCD panels are 1366x768.
