It's a good price but there's not a lot to be said for Hanspree TVs in my opinion. This hasn't got Freeview, has a relatively poor viewing angle, is just 800:1 contrast ratio, is dog ugly and, in my experience, Hanspree's customer service is dreadful. My remote broke within 4 weeks. Hanspree told me that the 2 year guarantee did n't cover accessories and that these had just 30 day warranty. Misco sorted the problem, but having had such an experience, I'd never buy another product from Hanspree.

My old man has another Hanspree 37" model, and whilst it's okay, it's not top notch. But he paid £375 for about a year ago, and I'd say this is decent value for what it is.

I actually like the Hannspree remotes - some of them are backlit and finished in metal and aren't your usual light/nasty product, but if it breaks down then I guess it's not so good.

Hannspree's always gonna be a bargain product IMO, but if you're after a lot of acres for not much cash, it'll do until you can afford a nice Sony.

Fairly unique design i have to say:

Anyone know what panels these might use?
#5
it would of looked a lot better if those side speakers weren't there.

ive got a hanspree 32inch in my bedroom and its fab,was a bit more than this though great price, but what were they thinking with those speakers!!
had mine about 10months so far no problems at all very pleased.

owned one and yuk was it awful! - mine was faulty to be fair.........

have a mate who raves about the value for money and great picture (1 yr old set now)

so its a matter of you takes your money etc........

but its a big screen for the money! - :whistling:

I believe their company motto is:

“TV’s designed by the blind for the blind”.

They do have some ‘quirky’ looking TVs.

From the pictures, the speakers appear to be detachable.

... is just 800:1 contrast ratio.

Says "1200:1" here: http://www.amazon.com/HANNspree-HANNsnara-37-Inch-LCD-HDTV/dp/B000J9XCEI

Anyone know for sure?
(It also says "speakers are removable")

Anyone know 1080 / 720?

Cheers

I've owned a 37" xv hanspree for nearly 2 years, with no problems, the picture quality from hd source is great even better than my 42" samsung.... but sd is a little poor but still a great budget buy .... that good I've just bought one for my kids room :) good post thanks

I think it's quite a nice design. Might not fit in with chintzy furniture and figurines but in most modern homes I think it'd make a nice centrepiece and at that price you can probably afford to change it when it begins to look old. Voted hot.

Wall mountable ?

Bought a Hanspree JT37" at the beggining of this year. Will never buy Hanspree ever again, absolute junk, with the worst support I have ever been subjected to. In the end (about 4 months) I had the Hanspree technicians telling me the problems were within their specifcation tolerances and they were thinking of charging me for the 3 sets I sent in for repair..... so I chargebacked em, god bless visa.

Stay away from Hanspree at all costs is my advice, they may have samsung screens or whatever but the electronics behind them are useless.

Bought a JT02 Hannspree at the begining of this year for the living room, it wasn't freeview, but that wasn't a problem as i have cable, and a freeview adaptor (£25-£30) could fit in the back without knowing it was there. I was so please with the black piano finish and picture/sound quality I got staight back on the net and bought another for my bedroom and hung it on the wall. I'm very fussy when it comes to value for money and quality and I would give the JT02 series 10/10. I agree though this model is not as attractive with those ugly speakers on the side....

Have to agree. I bought my JT02 37" back in January, I can't fault it at all. Very good spec for the money, and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

LCD contrast figures are pretty much a product of the marketing department - ie what they think they can get away with. They have very little connection with reality, because there's no objective or regulatory standard to measure them by.

That's even before they start messing with "dynamic contrast", then you can claim your 800:1 TV is anything up to 50,000:1 easy :-)

Big tv for that price, in comparison does anyone know the best known brand tv at 37" at the moment?

A quick glance at Dixons reveals the toshiba regza for £459.99 inc. delivery.

However, there's a 5% lcd voucher floating around and quidco + 2.5% egg card rebate which would bring the whole thing down to around £415-420.

my girl f has a hanspree 37 inch there good for xbox 360 but **** for pc it lagged for me playing cod 4 8ms response time prob has something 2 do with it

The speakers are completely detachable so long as you have a sky box/amplifier etc to use for your sound. Once the speakers are off the TV becomes very minimal - just the screen with a narrow bezel surrounding it. The looks are pretty subjective anyway - one person will think it lovely and minimal and another will think it a pig in a poke! Have not had any problems with either of my 2 models of this TV and have had both for over a year. You do pay your money and take your choice - but unless you are a complete movie buff these are perfectly acceptable for the money. Let's face, it if you were completely **** about your TV viewing standards you will be looking at models far more expensive and with more bells and whistles anyway
