Can someone tell me whats the best tv for £300 delivered?? this make or Mira? or another??

thanks
#2
very close to clicking the buy button on this deal.

Any TV experts out there know if its worth while getting? the price is good but are the spec's good enough? would it be better shelling out more money on a better spec tv?
#3
Not an expert but i have the 37 inch hanspree and with 1000 to 1 contrast and is top dog
With 1200 to 1 contrast it must be even better
Good luck
Pete

siliconbits,

I suggest you pop over to the misc. forum and have a look at a thread by specman.

Voted cold...

Come on people. We have been here, done the hanspree - even the e2 model, for 300 - 320 for the past 6 months. To be honest the fact that this hasnt been lowered still in the space of time makes it a bad deal. You could have been using this tv for the past 6 months. Besides other tvs have been lowered with models like Sharp, JVC, Hitachi etc being sold for around the 400 mark and models like Sony, Samsung 500 less...

But yeah voting cold on the basis that this deal is old hat, even if the price does shift off 300 from time to time.
#12
I have the 37in of this, it's superb.
#13
Its a great TV for the money shame it doesnt have freeview.Bought ours a few months back great picture looks fantastic.

I bought this tv a few months ago and sent it back.

Motion blur was just too much to handle and found it impossible to get the right balance of brightness/contrast. It’s always either too dark (no details at all in dark scenes), or, if you notch the brightness up a bit to compensate, you go blind in lighter scenes.

Very large thread on the AV forums here:
http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=457400

Even if you don’t read the whole thread, please make sure you read some of it. Many people were far from satisfied. Yes, £300 is a good price, but not if you cant live with the shortcomings of the TV. I replaced mine with a Samsung and it is better (although also not perfect)

Again, the people who criticise obviously don't have one.

As I have stated in previous threads, I got one of these for the kid's room and was blown away by the quality (2 HDMI sockets are the advantage over competitively-priced LCDs). In fact, so much so that I went and bought another for my mum's flat-warming gift... and she is similarly delighted!

However, it does seem that a few people have experienced some problems with motion blur, etc. But I imagine this is the exception rather than the rule.

(Oh, and unfortunately Ebuyer are no longer doing the £10 Google Checkout promotion, I don't think)

I am not interested in putting people off. I wish someone pointed out the negatives before I bought one. Would have meant I can make a better decision whether to buy one or not. I find that sometimes the hype of a product can get a bit overblown. If you look at the thread on the AV forums you will see that the first half is mostly glowing reviews where slowly people started posting problems with the set. Some very serious problems like bad motion blur. (from people who own them btw)

All I am saying is that if you are going to buy the set, make sure you know what to expect. Some of the reviews here make the set sound like its perfect and it certainly not perfect. When I received the set I was very impressed with its looks and the build quality (nothing like the other cheapo makes out there) and I tried to convince myself to keep it. After a week, I gave up and set it back. At the end of the day, for another £150 I bought a much better TV, but then again £150 is a lot of money.

can this be wall mounted.

Surely we can't expect top brand standards at this price.:?

Voted hot - even if has been posted before, it's still a good deal today I'd say.

cheers

£312 but you get a 5 year warranty

Bought this a few months back in HD this TV is fine a great picture
In SD you do get some motion blur, bleeding etc its not great! But it's ok
For xbox 360 picture is great
For Sky HD picture is great even the non HD channels are better then normal Sky (upscaling?)
If you have virgin Media picture is considerably better then Sky

A couple of gripes I have about this tv are:
The remote works well close to TV but go any distance or at a angle to the TV and it wont work
There is STILL no Sky code for Sky remote, so you need to use 2 remotes if you have Sky

Voted HOT it may be a old deal that keeps showing up but it's still one of the best in the market for this price.

The key with this set is to not expect parity with an LCD that costs several hundred more.

Having seen one in action, the picture quality is far superior to any other budget (<£400) set that I've encountered before. It also looks and feels like a much pricier set.

However, I would not recommend this set if you watch a decent amount of football, the set suffers from some pretty terrible motion blur which is really highlighted during fast moving sports. Didn't seem as pronounced during play with a PS3.

Those on a budget or after a bedroom set wont go far wrong.

Been searching for a while now and having read countless review threads it looks like you'd be better off with the Orion 32082.

2xHDMI ports and largely decent reviews.

£299 from Dixons incl delivery (£289 with BTNEWTOTAL10 voucher)

could someone who has this set give me the measurements please?

WxDxH and also the WxD of the base area that would be in contact with a stand.

the measurements on the site differ depending on if you click description or specification.

thank you.

Mine displays so little motion blur, I haven't actually noticed it.
Whereas my fathers £800 Sony Bravia is dreadful.
Give it a good source and it's almost faultless.
Perhaps the biggest issue is poor QC at the manufacturing stage, but from what I've read/heard they're very good with any warranty issues - so I'd have tried another set first.

thanks for that, but as i said in my original post, there are 2 sets of dimensions given.

if you click on "description" you get the measurements you posted, but if you click on "specification" you get:

Dimensions (WxDxH) 80.8 cm x 21 cm x 64.6 cm

so if anyone who has the set can help with my query inc. the base size!

thank you.

This isn't just specific to this set, but a comment I feel worth making regarding all LCD tv.

I've just watched Spooks on BBC1 on Virgin; picture brilliant (on a 32" Sony Bravia).
Now I've turned to BBC3 on Virgin for the next episode and the picture is terrible with lots of blurring.
So I switched to Freeview and the picture has improved massively.

This is a bandwidth issue, not necessarily any failing with a particular TV.

The source is all.

You are SO right - the hi-fi adage of rubbish in = rubbish out holds true but is never really acknowledged:?

Unless the source is appropriate, any screen will have problems showing its true potential:whistling:

Note that after year 1, the carriage costs both ways must be paid by the customer which could well be around the £80-£100 mark.

Anyone ordered one of these from ebuyer as I was trying to and then it came up trying to sell me a stand. Does it not come with the stand? Thanks.
#35
It comes with its own stand as in the photo, but not a cabinet-type 'stand'. I assume that was what was being offered?
For £300 you can hardly expect a cabinet to be included...
#36
it says in the ad that this goes up to a 42" but i can only see the 32" on ebuyer?

Yes, my mistake. I just need a stand, not a cab. Thanks.

that is just sales blurb, doesnt mean that ebuyer stock them, you may have to try a different retailer.
