Cracking price for an LCD TV. This was on offer before christmas for £199, but these are being sold as 'open-box'. Still a great deal, cheapest I've seen a screen this size. Very (VERY) few details on the website, but presume the features are the same as the previous model available.

Price = £174.40 £4.99 (cheapest shipping). Don't forget 4% quidco also!

I don't think so, and I also read that it is not wall mountable

That was the one doing the rounds before christmas, presumably the same this time round too. A few pictures to either turn you on or turn you off from the product.....

Perhaps buy some adhesive coloured vinyl to cover up the walnut? lol

Just to clarify for others who might not be aware the hannspree thread on AVF is great, however it is a general thread for all models.
It really does have lots of info though.
Also i have a hannspree 32" in my lounge and ive had mine for about 18 months now and have had no problems, and a great picture too

That rather kills it cold.

At 199 this was a great deal ( I love mine) but £20 less for a bashed box (who cares?) and a **** useless warranty? I'd not buy.

Phew...thanks, I was moving my finger back and forth on the mouse over the buy button until I saw your post about the wood effect back...yuk...

Rep for saving me £180

I quite like the quirky looks of some of the Hanspree TVs. This is worth a punt. Ordered.
#19
Ugh! that's one ugly telly!!
#20
???? 32 £180

hummmm may be ugly but average price for 32 is £320 ish
#21
If it's only an open box then surely it's a new product and not a refurb. That being the case isn't it the law that it has to have a 12 month warranty?

ROFL what on earth where they thinking when they designed this TV, omg its so ugly i doubt people would buy it in the 70's LoL
#23
Everyone's entitled to their opinion on aesthetics of course, but personally I find the high gloss black sleek designs of most modern TVs drab and unappealing, which is why I've never bought one. This is certainly not a run-of-the-mill looking TV, which is why I like it. I almost bought a different Hanspree model not too long ago, but held off. For this price though I can't resist giving it a go!
#24
and it be put on the wall?

ohhhh come onnnn!

800:1 contrast ratio?
1366 x 768 resolution?
8ms response time?
WXGA Interface?

i really truly think NO

specs aside, it is what it is, a budget flat panel for people on a truly tight budget.

enjoy your purchase people!

What's wrong with those specs. 720p looks amazing, You don't really see the benefit of 1080p until you get to 42" or bigger. 8ms is fast enough for anything, I don't care if you can now get 2ms panels, only a couple of years ago 32ms was the standard, and anything faster was considered great for games. and same with the contrast ratio, it used to be 100:1, and the expensive panels were 200:1, and the panels that claim 10,000:1 aren't using real numbers anyway, they're dynamic ratios and also include other tricks to get the numbers higher. it's a bit like the crazy PMPO ratings for cheap speakers.

Complaining about these stats, is a bit like complaining that a car can only do 140mph when there are cars that can do 200, it doesn't matter what the top end can do all that matters is do you need it? will you ever get the benefit from it?

Anyway at £170 that's a cracking price, I have bitten the bullet and ordered one, Thanks OP. I don't care too much about it's ugliness since i'll be looking at the beautiful picture from my 360 in the middle not looking at the surround, but regardless, since my bedsit currently has garden chairs in it instead of a sofa I don't think it'll look too out of place lol.

Btw can anyone confirm, did I somehow join this shoppers discounts and rewards con? I didn't check any kind of box, but then I didn't see one anyway. There's a link about this discount thing and clicking it seems to indicate you've joined. very confusing.

Sounds like that money would have been better spent on a Sofa then a ugly ass low spec tv with a 1 month warrenty which probably is not going to last long. You should sort out your prioritories.
#28
i got one of these christmas 2007 it was only 200 new.from misco but its a pain if owt wrong i got it with 1dead pixel but they wouldnt sort it.
#29
My guess would be these are customer returns, so buyer beware
#30
obviously a hot price BUT without a warranty your just throwing money away.
#31
This is a great telly.

Ugly? Not really. My lounge is full of traditional wood. So unless yours is all stainless steel or blackash this will probably be more in keeping than some modern thing that's fit for an Ikea minimalist pad.

The specs are fine for the average family usage. Gosh my last TV was a CRT and was 10 years old - so this is state of the art beside it. Not a Lamborghini sure, but a steady saloon.

The lack of warranty is troubling.

I am not sure however that the back of this tv actually is wood, most likely laminated plastic and would look more like Ikea furniture, particleboard that is plastic coated! Which our house is full of cos we cant afford real wood lol.
#34
Out of stock now, shame i missed it!

Is there anywhere else where i can pick for a similer price? be a bit more.
#35
Bought one before xmas at £199. It's a second tv for the spare room. Picture isn't as good as my 42" Panasonic plasma but perfectly watchable. The wood effect is on the back of the tv so you never see it when it's pushed into a corner or up to the wall. I'd certainly recommend it for the price.
Forget the comments from the nerds about the specs etc. They probably believe that a Sony mini system would sound better than a Naim audio system because the maunfacturers specs say so

It's not 1080p COLD

Aye. Anything listed in Misco's 'open box' section is generally just one item, items with multiple stock are listed as 'clearance'. If it is a genuine bargain you have to be very quick on the button.

I buy open box stuff from them all the time (over-the-counter usually, as I live a couple of miles from their warehouse) and 90% of the time the stuff is perfect, just box damage or missing manuals and the like. And they do a 7-day money back guarantee which is incredibly useful for buying TVs and monitors, if you get a dead pixel just return it for a refund.

I actually bought one of the Hanns Lounge TVs for my brother last year and they're much better looking 'in the flesh' than you'd expect from the pictures. Picture quality is pretty good and the speakers do a much better job than the ones in most TVs. Only real quibble is the bulk of the thing, it takes up a bit more room than most LCDs.
