Good price, but I wonder what make it is?

good find

Thought this was a great buy until I saw it was Hitachi :-(

Given the price this is almost certainly a Hitachi P7K500, which is cheap because it's appallingly slow. They're okay for use in USB enclosures as backup storage, but not very good for anything where performance actually matters.

I went to the store to buy one HD and there were many no branded ones. I was looking for one of 1 TB, but anyway looked at the 500 GB, 640 GB, and 750 GB ones. I asked the guys over there about these no branded. I wanted to know the make. They took a while asking each other, one of the guys said "I think they are hitachis". I replied if that could be confirmed. At least I know hitachi. They took some time, opened the box, and then came out saying "Sorry, we don't know the brand. It is not showing in the hard drive". I couldnt look at it myself. Conclusion: Do not think these are hitachis. They might be some unknown brand.
