I very nearly bought these around Xmas time.
£100 seems to be lowest I can find , so hot enough :)

Great price for the latest model of these fantastic speakers
#4
I'm torn between these or bose companions.... I know theres a £100 price difference... anyone got any ideas on which I should go for? Thanks!

This vs Bose get the Bose f you an afford the extra 100. These are very good too
#6
I wasn't impressed with the previous model.
Will give these new ones a listen and perhaps grab some (before the price goes back up in the next day or so, as per usual with Amazon).

These things are outstanding. I got a pair last year because my Samsung LCD's sound is horrible. They look good, sound awesome and the sub on these beasts handles bass like nothing else.

£100 is standard really, so I'm going neutral on the 'deal' aspect, but I'd recommend the product.

Same price at BestBuy http://www.bestbuy.co.uk/product/1000142671/Harman-Kardon-SoundSticksIII-Speakers.aspx

Might also be worth keeping an eye on Dixons in case a voucher appears http://www.dixons.co.uk/gbuk/harman-kardon-soundsticks-iii-2-1-pc-speakers-clear-08843639-pdt.html

i have a set of these brilliant when connected to my imac

Sweet. Ordered.

I've got Soundsticks II and they are incredible.

Moving those into my back room and using the new ones for the office.

Just to throw another set of speakers in the mix - the JBL Creatures are fantastic value at £61.28 from Laskys - I have the Creature II and they are still going strong and sound fantastic.

Because if like me you have most of your music on your computer and generally listen to music through your computer and want decent speakers then £100 isn't bad - especially with the sound quality of these. They easily fill the room and sound amazing.

Feel free to disregard this comment, but after lots of ranting about these that appeared on HUKD when House of Fraser had them at £99.99 I bought a set at the end of December. To be honest, they do look fab but I was expecting a little more impact than they produced. Also, the wires to the sticks are incredibly fragile - I have had mine replaced once (my own fault - but worth keeping in mind).

I've had these things for around a month now, have no fear these give you great quality sounding bang for your buck. And look damn sexy!!

bit expensive for less than 50w output (_;)

Ive got them, so worth it. Sound is great bass is fantastic. Play rock, house, dub and dnb well. Best speakers ive had.

Only bad points is that the light gets annoying in dark when watching films

Agreed - you have to be very careful with these. Form over function. Personally I'm not that impressed with mine (the previous model).

Bought the SoundStick II's for around £40 off someone and they are great. Don't need new ones though.
#21
Great sound as said above but also build quality on the previous model is poor. I've had them three years, they are held together with tape but they are still playing as well as day one! I would say they come close to the Bose equivalent speakers so if you're watching your money these are the best option.

Just turn them off at the back? Light goes away no worries.

bought the obviously older version of these ooh about 5 years ago - still going strong and now rigged up to my spanky new imac. Apart from the odd fly that got caught in the subwoofer never to escape again, they are as good as the day they were bought. Oh, and yes, £100 for a computer set of speakers IS worth it when you hear them.

Surprised they haven't changed / altered the design after so long, but still a talking point for visitors.

If you are comparing between companion 3 and this, then maybe this.. but if you're thinking about companion 5- go for it!!!

buy the AE Aego M's guys, can be had for around the same price, leagues above any 2.1's IMHO

I have been using mine for a few years now and I love every second of music that comes out of them! Only downside is they used to be only £80, now they're around £130-£140!

Definitely a much better choice than the Bose Companions as well.

Soundsticks are looking a little dated now - I remember you used to see them paired with the Apple Imac G3!

They look messy and I don't care for 5.1 - I have a home cinema for that - £379 I can get a Blu Ray 5.1 system!
For day to day very sexy looking set of speakers that have a sound to back up their style you can't really go wrong with these. When I got my Soundsticks II, I too, was apprehensive at spending so much money on 2.1 speakers with cheaper alternatives available.
No need - these are definately value for money, pumping out excellent sound for the office and bedroom. (and yes, they are a talking point from visitors!).
Mine are still going strong and the woofer is clear enough not to muddy the sound from the sticks' treble and mids.

i am sorry, but the Bose Companion 3's are way better than these. One of my housemates has the soundsticks and another, the bose, the bose fair far better in every category even if they are £100ish more. giood price for these but you cant compare them to the companion 3's!!!

Have you listened to the companions 3's? You are out of your mind if you think these soundsticks are better!!!
1. The bose are more robust and will last you longer.
2. The bose have a separate controller for volume so easier to adjust
3. The bose has much clearer and purer bass
4. The bose overall sound quality is much higher than the soundsticks

Finally, the bose don't look like a chav's toy :D

All kinda irrelevant talking about products that are £40 and £100 more expensive than that on offer here!

Sorry, no - you misunderstood.

I meant the Aego M's are a better choice than the Bose Companion's 3.

They arguably sound better and they are a fair bit cheaper.

I don't think so. If you are spending £100 on speakers then chances are you can afford to spend an extra £40 so It's always good to hear of other alternatives!

I agree here and apologies for confusion before. The Aego M's are great speakers, I was going to buy them from a local hifi shop but opted for jbl speakers and seperate amp (both bought for just under £100). I would buy the Aego's over the soundsticks even if £22.50 more but, if i was serious about a 2.1 system I think the Bose are the best choice for under the £200 mark.

Back to the deal, good price in relation to other retailers but expensive for what they actually are - 40w 2.1 speakers. If you want a good sounding 2.1 40w speaker system with good looks why not go for this http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/11540905/Logitech-Z523-2-1-Speaker-System-White/Product.html?searchstring=logitech+2.1&searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&urlrefer=search ?
