Still very expensive for a remote but better than the £300 Stuff and T3 magazine have it as costing and cheaper than it's nearly identical replacement (harmony 1100 costs £346.50).

I'm sure it'll still go cold though lol.

You can have some heat from me! I would love one of these but it is a bit over kill. Also I am using my PS3 for TV and PVR and it needs Bluetooth to control it which I don't think this supports.

It doesn't do bluetooth (neither does the new one) Logitech have just released an adaptor specifically to give the PS3 IR support including on/off.

CCL, amazon, play etc all sell a dirt cheap IR dongle with remote (the make is Logik 3 or something), about £7, no on/off support and the remote is supposedly naff but worth the money for the IR dongle.

How does PS3 do PVR/TV?

My media centre PC just died losing me my Blu Ray/DVD/HD DVD/PVR freesat and satellite. Thought about a PS3 to replace the Blu Ray/DVD and maybe to run Linux, but didn't know it could do PVR and TV reception. Might take a closer look.

Great piece of kit. Lets you record one channel and watch another or watch a recorded program. It works well and main reason i got it was it lets me watch Freeview via HDMI cable so pic quality is pretty good.

Few down points are that the season pass is crude, you can choose to repeat recording daily or weekly. So if you record BBC News at 6pm it will record 30 mins on Sat and Sun too. But works great as a stop gap till I can afford Sky, Freesat HD etc.

I got it for £47 from Shopto but I don't think they have it listed.

Thanks for the heads up on the IR dongle. So I could then use the Harmony with it if I get the IR codes it needs. Rep to you for that heads up!

Superb bit of kit. This is not for everyone.............but if you have a good HC setup this is a worthwhile addition. bought mine a year ago and would'nt be without it!

One thing to take into consideration, its not a traditional look and feel of a remote, I have friends who bought this and stopped using it after a while, switching back to the Harmony one. I have used one and missed the traditional feel of a remote, and buttons. Something to consider. For me its too much like and ATM approach to remotes compared to harmony one. Otherwise hot.

This is going cheap as the Harmony 1100 has just come out.

@ aerotec

Thanks for the info, decided just to get the eee box PC and the samsung BD-P1500 with free discs from amazon. As I still had an HD freesat and an old pace twin freeview PVR, it wouldn't make sense, still want a PS3 though:thumbsup:

@ sshomza: Your right some don't like it's shape and having to look at it to use it, I got one when last on special, I prefer it but I don't like holding the remote I just set stuff off and put the control down. As for the problems people state in the old reviews, I've had none, the software/firmware updates seem to have fixed them.

The 1100 has no extra features, they swapped around the volume and channel up/down buttons on the side, painted it black and put little guides (bumps) on the plastic beside the touch screen. They use a slightly better processor and different software...not worth an extra £250 IMO.

Same here...

bought this at RRP a last year (or before that) and no one at home could get used to the foreign concept of the touchscreen...

Sold it and bought the One ... Very happy now with getting all the buttons back and the logitech support for my (then) new kit has improved too :)

Probably a stupid question, but nothing ventured nothing gained!

I'm guessing this remote wouldn't work with my Rotel RA-04 amplifier? (Which doesn't come with a remote control, the 05 model does but it's £100 more).

Thanks in advance.

I got this remote last year when Amazon had it's own discount and Logitechs discount on the go at the same time making this about 116 squid I believe. Remote is great but the initial setup takes a loooong time to get right.

However once it is set correctly it works a treat. I did have a lockup a few months ago but merely removed then refitted the battery and a couple of minutes later it was all back to normal.

I agree with alchamestkevin, if your amp has the ability to use IR but the remote was an extra is should work.

Logitech have an online tool to check if your stuff is in their database:

according to that the make and model you listed is supported.
