Price matched to Tesco.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the seventh and final adventure in the Harry Potter film series, is a motion picture event, told in two full-length parts. Part 1 begins as Harry, Ron and Hermione set out on their perilous mission to track down and destroy the horcruxes--the keys to Voldemort’s immortality. On their own, without the guidance or protection of their professors, the three friends must now rely on one another more than ever. But there are dark forces in their midst that threaten to tear them apart.

Meanwhile, the wizarding world has become a dangerous place for all enemies of the Dark Lord. The long-feared war has begun and Voldemort’s Death Eaters seize control of the Ministry of Magic and even Hogwarts, terrorizing and arresting anyone who might oppose them. But the one prize they still seek is the one most valuable to Voldemort: Harry Potter. The Chosen One has become the hunted one as Voldemort’s followers look for Harry with orders to bring him to the Dark Lord…alive.

Harry’s only hope is to find the horcruxes before Voldemort finds him. But as he searches for clues, he uncovers an old and almost forgotten tale--the legend of the Deathly Hallows. And if the legend turns out to be true, it could give Voldemort the ultimate power he seeks.

I thought the same. Thought price-guarantee included todays best price so it should apply. I pre-ordered Blu-ray triple at £12.74 I doubt that will be beaten.

I know they have already taken 9.97 from my debit card so I dont know if there is a way of them giving a partial refund? hopefully someone will know for definite.

If the price-guarantee was included when you ordered, you will get the refund. Check your order confirmation e-mail to know for sure. Here's the text from Amazon.

Amazon.co.uk's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and dispatched. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, software, or video game, the price you pay will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.co.uk between the time you placed your order and up to and including the release date. A pre-order price guarantee message will appear on your Order Summary during the checkout process. If you use 1-Click ordering, pre-order price guarantee protection will be automatically applied. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change.

Terms and Conditions
Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to items sold by Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk's Preferred Merchant, Indigostarfish.com, at the website http://www.amazon.co.uk, and not to items (or prices) offered by third-party sellers on Amazon.co.uk's Marketplace platform or at any of Amazon.co.uk's Trusted Partner sites, or from Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.it, Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.ca or Amazon.com or any of its affiliates.
Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to not-yet-released books, CDs, videos, DVDs, software, and video games. It does not apply to other product lines or to items that have already been released.
Pre-order Price Guarantee applies only to items displaying the Pre-order Price Guarantee offer ("Offer") message on their product detail pages. Items that do not display the Offer message do not qualify, regardless of the nature of the items.
If your order enters the dispatch process before the release date and the price is subsequently lowered on or before the release date, we will automatically refund your payment card for the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price.

I pre-ordered mine from Tesco £8.49, now £7.00 how unfair.

This is the wording from Tesco price promise.

Price Promise
All pre-order products are subject to our Price Promise. This means that if the price changes before the item is released you will always be charged the lowest price. If any of your items are reduced in price by the time your item is despatched we will send you a final price confirmation email with the actual price your card was charged.

As I received mine on Saturday, I have no chance of getting a refund of the price difference.

No Amazon has Price matched Tesco. I didn't ask Sainsbury to do it. Besides it had the Dobby special cover on it. ;)

I think people aren't reading the bit of text in the description! Maybe the OP should add the words 'price matched' to the title?

For those just reading, you can price match Tesco's £7 price for this via Amazon.

Price is good, film is sooo boring.

ordered this earlier today from amaozon for £10, the cheek!

From Amazon:

"If the price is lowered on the release date and your order has already been dispatched, we will automatically refund the difference between the price you were charged and the release-date price. Pre-order Price Guarantee only applies to items displaying the Pre-order Price Guarantee offer on the product detail page. Terms and Conditions apply."

I have not (as yet) received the automatic refund of £2.97, but will check whether this is on its way...
#24
I got the refund when I queried this, though they were "doing this for you against our standard policy".

"Please note that your order was dispatched on April 8, 2011 and the price dropped on April 12, 2011. For this reason, pre-order price guarantee did not apply to your order, as we do not extend a post-order price guarantee."

I'm very grateful of course, but I'm not sure I agree with their assessment. The price clearly dropped on 11th, given the posting date of this deal, so their policy covering the price lowering on release date (listed as 11th on their site) should still stand.
#25
Just got an email from Amazon saying they are refunding me the difference to £7.00 on my pre-order (£1.49 in my case).
#26
it's £9.97 now at Amazon...
#27
Now £9.97
